Saw stage version of 1984 last night in Richmond (Keith Allen was in it).

Never read the book, obviously have some idea of the plot, but it was remarkable how current it is to the world today.

You really should read it. Also on a similar theme, Brave New World is pretty good (Huxley).

    Winston's the bad guy yeah....?

I would change the post to a spolier thingy but don't know how. Hopefully most here know the plot

I was joking. I think the chance of someone reading your post and seeing the play and not already knowing what's going to happen is, basically, nil.

Did anybody buy or read, 1984: Julia. The sequel. Would be interesting to get people's thought on that book before I buy it.

    Chicago: Curious.

I think it's highly unlikely that nobody bought, or read, the book. So I'm happy to put your mind at rest on that point.

Personally, I've never even heard of it.

Should have called it 1985 if you ask me, which you didn't.

Not yet but might do when I've got through the three or four unread novels I have beside my bed.

Im a bit torn as these cranks on twitter need standing up to, but it is tiring and probably futile.

Maybe it will be best to let them all just talk amongst themselves.

Fuck 'em off. Put that shit heel piece of propaganda pudding to the grave. Although the EU are sanctioning it which brings us to Marco Rubio now threatening the EU with sanctions. SANCTIONS. All over a nasty piece of shit. Don't give it any air. BlueSky all day buddy.

    Chicago: Radical.

The Guardian has announced that they won't be posting any more stories on Twitter. It needs some more heavyweights - the UK Government and BBC, for example - to follow so that this builds momentum.
