MaXXXine is really fun. Not quite up to the level of X or Pearl but it rounds out the trilogy well.

Ah. Those were the films made just down the road from here. I don't really watch much horror, so I wondered why the names sounded familiar.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is by far the weakest of the revived series (which i've most enjoyed). The whole thing is just ends up being a set up for the next film - the main 'baddie' doesn't even show up until well past half way.

Due to rain ruining golf plans today I watched Terrence Mallick's The Tree Of Life. Very arty, quite pretentious, utterly brilliant.

The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is fine, but nothing like as good as that cast made me hope it would be.

There's a much better film in there than the one that got made.

I thought it was terrific. Love me an Apes film.

There are good M Night Shamalamadingdong films and bad M Night Shamalamadingdong films. Trap is very much the latter with thrown in ludicrous nepotism.

On the other hand, I'm pleased to announce that Alien Romulus is the shooty scary Alien film you were looking for.

Is it, when I’ve already got Aliens?

Watched Jurassic Park with Little Miss BW for the first time (and Mrs BW who'd strangely never seen it before). I'd not watched it for a few years but still enjoy that film as much as I did the first time as a wide-eyed 13-year-old.

It’s like Aliens but with the horror from Alien. Very good movie that pays homage to every Alien movie of yore. Perhaps that’s it’s biggest weakness too as it does lay it on a bit thick at times, but it is very good. It even puts right the wrongs on Resurrection.

Watch it in Imax if you can, the sound is excellent.

I took my 13 yr old who thought she was a bit of a horror aficionado after watching Terrifier or whatever it's called. She shat herself.

Challengers. Loved it. Different type of film. Zendaya really does make some good stuff. Not your average or predictable film. The fact that it is actually messy makes it compulsive viewing..

    Chicago: Challenged.

My views on animated movies are fairly well known I think, but last night I gave Spirited Away a go with an open mind. It wasn't bad, but it didn't make me desperate to see more animated movies. I am going to give Akira another try as I think that thematically that might be a bit more my jam, but if that doesn't do it for me I'm giving up.

I'm going to suggest that you'll like the first maybe half hour of Akira and then not so much the rest of it.
You might enjoy Ghost in the Shell better.

Thank you. Wikipedia describes it as a "neo noir cyberpunk action thriller", which is very much up my alley. I'll give that a go.

The live-action remake is sadly ass, despite being filmed in Wellington.
