Watched The Batman. It's ... not for me. Too dark (in terms of being able to see the images), too stupid (supposedly realistic but about a dozen clearly fatal events that people walked away from), too annoying (didn't mind Pattinson but Paul Dano was awful). Genuinely, the worst Batman film I've ever seen - Clooney and Swarzeneggar; Kilmer and Carrey both had more going for them.

Adam West is the only true Batman.

Watched The Whale last night. Thought it was brilliant. The weak bit of the poor was the ‘evil’ daughter but overall a fantastic film

I think worst ever is a bit harsh, but it was fairly forgettable. I'm not sure EmoBat was the right direction to take it.

It was absolutely fine apart from the fact it should have finished 40 minutes earlier. It couldn’t stop carrying on which was annoying.

Zoe looked good in leather so that was nice. Didn’t know she was so tiddly though.

Watched the Mother with Jennifer Lopez as an assassin on Netflix. It wasn’t altogether terrible. In fact I enjoyed it even though the plot was almost non existent and the bad guys were a tad thick.

    Chicago: Feeling paternal.

Might go see Hypnotic for my birthday tomorrow. I'd rather watch Guardians 3, but Mrs Shady will be coming and (quote) "she doesn't love me enough to watch two hours of that rubbish".

Blackberry is very dull. Do not recommend.

Finished Creed III. A total Nothing burger film. I think the series is finished now.

Champions - starring Woody Harrelson is actually a lovely little film about disabled athletes. It's not laugh out loud funny but charming and has it's moments.

Extraction 2: Well we have seen 20 minutes of it but trying to fit three films into one evening where there is love to be doing was always a tall order. So far so good. nonsense story but action action action, so y'know blokes entertainment...

    Chicago: Action jackson

Id largely agree with that. Creed III was a bit ludicrous and needed an editor.

Extraction 2 is very John Wick like intense but much less surreal. Still clearly nonsense but very very well put together. Shooty shooty shooty. And stabbing.

Amsterdam was much more fun than the reviews suggested it would be. Bit of a mess at times, but a very entertaining plane movie.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is very Indiana Jones. If you like Indiana Jones, this is a good Indiana Jones film. I like Indiana Jones.

A friend of mine and someone I teach went to see that at the weekend. Being in her early 20's she'd not seen the other Indiana Jones films and had to had to have the general ideal explained to her before going.
Being a horse owner/rider, and also a massive geek she spent the entire film thinking "what the actual f*ck" I believe. Clearly not good at suspending reality!
I have heard others say good things about it though, perhaps it's the nostalgia that makes some people over look things that other's can't.

Yeah because the horse riding is the main thing in Indy films which is unbelievable.

I've kind of lost the plot a bit re Batman / DCEU / The (other; orher new (NEW!)) Batman / Suicide Squad / The Suicide Squad etc etc.

Meanwhile only two Dredd movies ever made and I don't even count one of those.

I'm definitely too old to keep track. They are rebooting the DC movies, again, under James Gunn (who did the second, better, (The?) Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy) which I thought meant all the existing Supermans, Batmans, Wonder Womans and Flashes are all gone. But they are still doing a sequel to the Joachim Phoenix Joker and maybe Pattinson gets another go at Batmanning?

Marvel worked for a long time but I think the idea of everything being connected should be over - just make films of them doing their own things. Superman doesn't really need any friends to help him out, he's ridiculously overpowered as it is, so by the time you've found a way to weaken him, you then have to also find a reason why his mates can't just fire the krytonite into space.
