Really needs to be seen on the biggest screen possible with the volume cranked up. It's an excellent immersive visual experience with wonderful sound, and a very dull story. About as far removed from an optimal train movie as I can imagine.
I believe this is a minority view.. but I thought the soundtrack to the first one was one of the worst soundtracks I’ve ever heard. A cacophony of overblown nonsense that was more like a parody of dramatic movie scores than a serious attempt to actually be one.
I’m totally unfamiliar with the source material or prior movies etc. Though it was slow going, I did manage to enjoy it despite the soundtrack. Not sure if I’ll go see the second one or wait until they are all done and watch them at home where I can turn the fucking volume down.
It's definitely a minority view, Hans Zimmer is one of the most well respected movie composers working today and he literally won an Oscar, a Grammy and a bunch of other awards for his work on Dune.
