I feel like I should watch Killers the Flower Moon but don’t when I’d get around to it. I never got around to the Irishman.

Our apple subscription expires on Wednesday, so I guess we won't get round to Killers of the Flower Moon this time around. Just never hit a point in the last 5 weeks where we wanted to sign up for, what I imagine to be, a pretty grim three and a bit hours.

The Creator (on Disney+) - Not been many good sci-fi movies recently but this was a decent watch, technically very good, CGI handled superbly. Story was a bit derivative and schmaltzy but worth 2 hours of your time.

    Spider-Man into the Spiderverse.

The first 15+ minutes gave me a headache. It was an all out trippy fest. Once the story kicks in, it’s very good. Could have done without the first 30 minutes.

Next up the raunchy comedy Bottoms.

    Chicago: Somewhere in time.

This is the point at which I have abandoned it on three different attempts. If I want to feel like I'm on amphetamines I'll take amphetamines. Movie making for the ADHD generation.

I would say that pretty much every element of the first 30 minutes pays off later in Spider-verse 1. It's an exceptionally good film.
But the initial shifts were a bit headachy.

Good caveat. Will help all those non Forest fans browsing the Movies thread of a Forest message board for recommendations.

The iron claw. Powerful. Brilliant acting, editing, directing...but...
I think there are 2 scenes at the end that fuck it up a bit.

    Very dark.

I have heard Iron Claw is good. The Equalizer 3 is not as good as the others but it is a bit of nihilistic fun if you don't feel the need to think at all. Denzel seems to have turned into the terminator though which makes it devoid of any suspense. Oh well.

On the other hand Oppenheimer is magnificent. Everyone said it was too long but i didn't think so. The machinations of Politics rather than the "err could we blow up the world?", carried my interest. Americans really do the "let's fuck over anyone we feel doesn't toe the line", thing really well. I loved it. Wifey didn't. Well what do you expect she is a gung ho ra ra American who needs a lesson in history every now and again. Or a spanking...

    Anyway... Good stuff.

    Chicago: Explosive.

We watched Next Goal Wins on Friday. Light and fun fare. Only a little bit of Taika Waititi actually being in it but a lot of his humour (Boy, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, etc), so YMMV. Nice feel-good story that doesn’t challenge and sits about mid-tier in his filmography. Interesting in that a lot of filmmakers ‘go Hollywood’ and never come back and this is very much like his pre-Hollywood stuff. Again, YMMV.
I particularly enjoyed that it opens by addressing films “inspired by a true story” head-on, so you have an idea of what you’re getting into.
