The Fall Guy might be the silliest film I have seen in a while. It was entertaining and not without its Laugh out moments though. There are worse things to do on a Saturday night and I was too knackered to go to the Pearl Jam concert so stayed at home with wifey and giggles. Mindless entertainment that hit the spot.

    Enough Flying Dinosaur things…

    Chicago: Stunted.

On a plane, just watched Abigail as I'd seen most other things on.

It passed the time, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it.

I liked the Fall Guy, as you say silly but entertaining fun.

Civil War is probably my second favourite movie of the year, after Love Lies Bleeding.

The Bikeriders is magnificent. One of my favourite movies of the year. Not a lot of narrative but the performances from an amazing cast are fantastic.

Austin Butler is becoming one of my favourite actors working today.

Didn't it feel a bit like a poor version of Sons of Anarchy? It did to me. But then SoA is outstanding, so it was still a very passable movie. Jodie Comer helps. What an actor. And body.

I haven’t seen Bikeriders but SoA was really frustrating for me (like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, my wife started watching it and I joined in a couple of seasons in). It had moments of interest and was a halfway decent Hamlet homage but then the over the top moments (massive shoot out with .50 cals and grenades, for one) and I genuinely laughed out loud at how melodramatic the ending was.

Sorry this should probably have gone in Telly thread.

No, not remotely. The movie is about the early MCs before they became criminal enterprises, it's a character study rather than a narrative piece, and it's far grittier and less stylized than SOA.

I liked that in a bloody hell way!

Saw Venom Last Dance on Saturday and the Wild Robot on Sunday.

If you want to pick one of the two, don't bother with Venom.

Late Night with the Devil and Civil War last Saturday. Both had huge potential but didn't quite hit the spot for me. Civil War is intense but without really explaining anything I felt like it was a nothing burger which is a shame because it did have some good stuff in it. The ending was a tad strange and it left me empty.

Late Night with the Devil is expertly acted and has some great ideas but it gets a little lost towards the end as the whole thing unravels into what I thought it was. Still fun and enjoyable but again the ending is a little messy and should have been a little clearer. Good ideas though.

Both decent. Not Triceratops ace though.

    Chicago: Hard To Please.

I felt the same way about Maxxxine. It’s my favorite of the three (not that X and Pearl are bad or anything) but didn’t quite stick the landing. The ending seemed confused and just didn’t hang together. It does a really good job of capturing 80s Hollywood though.

I loved all three but thought MaXXXine was the least good, for the reason you stated. The mood and vibe was spot on but the story was nothing like as cohesive as the first two. Pearl was probably my favourite, if only for the closing credits scene.

    Mia Goth is a treasure.

Late Night With The Devil was excellent schlocky fun.

I watched that this weekend as well, in a double bill with Return of the Living Dead. Agreed with your take. A good spin on found footage.

Blink Twice was OK. Stylishly made but it's too busy trying and failing to say important things to remember to actually land the story.

Wifey was out of town. Was going to watch Malignant and then Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes. Didn't. For some weird reason I watched Gozilla x Kong - The New Empire. One of the worst films I have ever seen. Absolutely gash. Zero Triceratops. Not even sure why the film was made. Probably because they thought they could create a monster universe but none of it makes sense and it's rubbish.

Guess I should have watched the first two.

    Chicago: Monster mashed.

Edit: I liked Late Night With The Devil but found the ending to be messy and disappointing which is a shame because the acting was great.
