The live-action remake is sadly ass, despite being filmed in Wellington.

I presume you're wrong on that as it has Scarlett Johansson in it, and I would watch a two hour long movie of her washing the dishes.

It's definitely not all bad. The look and cast are excellent. But it's just not a good film.

Watch Urotsukidoji it’s like Akira on cocaine and acid. With demon wangs.

Outside of Anime (which I’m not the biggest fan of), there’s Persepolis and A Scanner Darkly. Not seen Waking Life but some people like it.

I also quite liked Renaissance but it was so long ago that I saw it, I don’t remember much outside of the stark animation.

And if you want to see some brilliant but profoundly sad anime, there's Graveyard of the Fireflies. A three-tissue movie, and not in that way.

Mad Max: Fury Road. Still the greatest action film with zero plot. Love it. Wifey hadn’t seen it and in order to wet the palate for Furiosa (which I haven’t seen but now available on streaming), I was happy to watch it again. Still perplexed by Tom Hardy’s decision to not speak but fcuk me Charlize Theron is a thing of legend.

Onto Anya Taylor Joy (oh yes!) next week.

    Chicago: On the journey.

Furiosa is excellent but far more plot heavy/epic. It’s also one of the rare prequels that works and enhances the other film. If I’d known, I’d have told you to watch it before rewatching Fury Road. It’s not quite as good but it’s still a better action movie than almost anything else around.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem like anyone will be green lighting the Wasteland (Miller’s Max oriented Fury Road prequel).

Longlegs was very stylish but the story was lame. Creepy, but not scary.

Saw Alien Romulus yesterday. It's alright but it's basically the first one rebooted.

Watched sixth sense again with our 19 year old and his girlfriend. The twist still worked.

Edit. Again for us, it was their first time

Watched Nope. Really loved both Get Out and Us but just couldn't get into Nope at all. Might need to try again as maybe I just wasn't in the mood.

    Monkey Man is absolutely terrific.

First time I watched Nope I wasn't sure it was all that good, but it stuck with me. The I watched it again and I think it's his best work yet.

The Fall Guy might be the silliest film I have seen in a while. It was entertaining and not without its Laugh out moments though. There are worse things to do on a Saturday night and I was too knackered to go to the Pearl Jam concert so stayed at home with wifey and giggles. Mindless entertainment that hit the spot.

    Enough Flying Dinosaur things…

    Chicago: Stunted.
