Civil War isnt quite what you expect. Dark, worrying and hopefully not prescient.

I'd agree. Thought the last 20-25 minutes with the intensity of the fighting were excellent.

Went to see Civil War at the weekend. Its pretty brutal and way more graphic in violence than expected.
I was expecting more world building, the background to the war is all a bit vague, the film focusses on a road trip some journalists are making to cover the war.
As others have said the final act when they reach DC is very intense and amazingly shot.

The creator. It’s good. Obviously very expensive. The director of rogue One doesn’t have many new tricks but I liked it.

    Surprised it wasn’t more popular.

    Anyway.

Chicago: Looking for something to watch.

Pretty sure it was very low budget (compared to most films these days anyway).

Godzilla minus One is on Netflix over here and I had heard good things about it. It’s really fucking good for what it is. Well acted. Good story. Amazing special effects and it explores Japanese Imperialism and PTSD. Really really well done. 3 Milllon triceratops with an added flash of Nuclear fire breathing.

    Chicago: Disaster Specialist.

I watched that the other night, also on Netflix. I thought it was really good too, with a much more interesting main character than your usual monster movie (Kamikaze pilot - that's not a spoiler, you find it out very early on).

Trigger Warning on Netflix is unwatchably bad. Even the delights of Jessica Alba cannot compensate for this ill conceived shit show. The least convincing special forces bad ass you will ever see. Am dram level fight scenes. Just dreadful.

Photos of Jessica Alba have the same depth as her on-screen performances.

I saw the original Beverley Hills Cop on preview, and it was what started me on a brief (student magazine) career as a film reviewer. That would be 40 years ago. I hope Axel has fared better than me over the intervening period.

Watched latest Quiet Place film whatever it's called. Starts really well. Beautifully shot and the direction. But slows down into a slightly sluggish middle act and doesn't quite pull it back with a reasonable ending.
Worth seeing in the cinema though as it does do the making the crowd silent thing quite well.

Are there lots of subtitles? My eyesight isn't good enough to read them at the cinema any more.
