Two films on Saturday. Dumb Money about the GameStop stock market scandal which was interesting. Didn’t mind it at all.
Joyride. Odd one really. A really filthy comedy about Asian Americans going to China featuring lots of sex, xenophobia and racism. It had some funny moments in it but Crikey, apparently all white peoples are racists which will make Rich B happy.
It will either be incredible or absolutely horrible. There will be no Inbetween. If this is a success I would expect the next Dredd show to be animated too. I would prefer live action but budgets being budgets. Does anyone know what happened to the tv show of Dredd? It was announced and then vanished.
Maybe they are waiting for Karl Urban to finish his stint with the boys.
I watched the Affleck/Clancy film Sum of All Fears because I quite enjoy a Clancy, and it took me half an hour of boredom before I recognised a scene and realised I had seen the whole movie before. Staggeringly unmemorable.
I went to see Avatar at the pictures (OK, cinema) when it came out. I thought it was awful dross - good cartoon expertise on show but a terrible and predictable story. It comes third in the worst films (movies) I've seen, after a film about Sergeant Bilko and Mama Maria, which I went to by accident, not realising it was a musical.
The worst film I've ever seen was 'Bliss'. At least someone was trying to make a film, to tell a story, though.
Most modern films are completely pointless for me. Avatar is a good example - a completely shite, tedious, over long, cowboy and Indian retelling, in the colour blue. Offers nothing interesting, apart from being in 3D - which nobody wants since it died out in the sixties. So popular they made another! All the superhero/comic book films. Shite. Churning out derivative dross to part people from money.
You could do a loafer style review for most modern films. In fact I would.
Something about stalking in a field for a few hours. Not sure then, I fell asleep. (Deer Hunter)
Nutter pissing about in front of a mirror, doing dress up, and talking to himself. (Taxi Driver)
Currently first and third on the all-time box office list, so clearly somebody wanted it. Don't think many went to see either Avatar films for the story, acting or characters.
