Two key players for me tonight. Our involvement in the game dropped off significantly when Sangare went off. Kept himself available and the ball moving all the time. Had to take the first yellow as did many of the team. Well shared.
Gibbs White. Did he get subbed at half time? Largely anonymous for much of the match. We absolutely need an option Nuno is prepared to use when MGW is being gash
I was looking. All I saw was someone running around a little bit slower than everyone else, and never quite getting to challenges in time. And for a professional footballer he gets his feet mixed up a lot. Did he have his boots on the wrong feet again?
I thought he was a noticeable upgrade on Yates in terms of keeping hold of the ball at the back. But a downgrade on winning it back. I would be tempted to see if he can play a bit further forward.
Whilst I think he was off the pace a little (as evidenced by his yellow card and he could easily have got another),his control/retention/distribution of the ball is a serious upgrade. If we do get into European competition, I think he will be an asset. The games are less frenetic.
"he could have been sent off" is a common theme for Sangare - I'm sure there have been a few other games where a yellow card has made him less effective and put everyone on edge as he's continued fouling. I do think he's worth persevering with though.
This was my observation. I thought Sangare was decent last night - broke up some play, good feet, able to find a forward option through the lines. My only criticism is that he's sometimes too calm in possession (if that makes sense) for the frenetic nature of the Premier League, i.e. that instance on the edge of our box in the first half where he won the ball, came inside nicely away from a couple of challenges and then gifted a free shot on goal from 20 yards.
I do think this needs to be caveated by the fact he's hardly played this season and is coming into a side which is visibly blowing out of its arse and limping over the line. At elite level, that's far from easy. I still think Sangare has much to offer, although half the fanbase appears to have given up on him.
I’m a believer and it seemed to me that most of the people at the game were supportive. Great ovation when he was subbed. Clearly McGugan is not a fan base don his feedback on Forest Focus
I haven’t looked at his work stats but I suspect they were decent. I agree about him being too casual on a couple of occasion as but equally we have several examples last night of players being too rushed/careless with their passing, likewise gifting the ball away in dangerous positions.
