To be fair, they did make a big deal of it being Morgan's 150th appearance for the club (level with Guy Moussi, one short of Gary Parker) and Callum's 100th (level with Guedioura and Peter Withe). And it will mean that Murillo gets to 100 on Sunday.
This is where the pre-drawn route falls down to me. You should be kept away from teams you've already played for as long as possible (as well as teams from your own country).
But win the play-off and we're up against Midtjylland or Betis. Again.
Win the Round of 16 and three of our potential six QF opponents are Ferencvaros, Porto or Braga.
That's partly because we've already played half the teams that are already in the last 16. If you rule out Villa as well, you'd only be left with Lyon, Freiburg or Roma.
Seeded draw, where the opponents are determined by the position in the league seems fairer (if less interesting). I'd probably make it purely seeded and remove the draw element altogether - so we'd have Panathinaikos and then Betis.
I also think playing Midtjylland or Betis is to our benefit. We'll have learned more about playing them than they'll have learned from playing us in Postecoglou mode.
For what it's worth, despite the score, I rated Ferencvaros a bit higher than Malmo. They, at least, gave it a bit of a go. Malmo seemed to settle for keeping the score down from the start.
Both of those would have been a bad away experience. Villa fans have said it was fine from a safety point of view but involved being bussed in hours before KO and kept in for a couple of hours after. So nothing like experienced previously and probably not for the feint hearted.
I was about to say that I hope Soyuncu is as bad as last time we played Lestah. Then I remembered that that was Wout Faes, who appears to be on loan to Monaco.
Still remember Soyuncu dropping a few Lestah bollocks though.
