And every round is two legs? Fuck that's a lot of football. We get home advantage for the playoff round but away for the second leg of the next one, right?
I actually enjoyed that game. yatesy was a terror. Much more physical than the Hungarians. That is something we miss when he isn't there. He also showed some touches of skill and some MGW tricks that came off. Kind of funny he got the first goal with Owen.
Mcatee best game he has played. Glad they gave him the penalty to be honest.
The first two goals were a bit rubbish. Third was good, and the 4th a clear and funny penalty. We made enough mistakes but were clearly better. Ndoye looked sharp and McAtee had a swagger on.
According to Opta, and common sense, we very much want Panathinaikos in the play off. Then there’s not much to chose between Fenerbahce, Midtylland and Betis.
You have to be suspicious about the quality of the opposition when Yates looks like prime Yaya Toure but a good win with lots of decent performances. Could have been a different story if they’d scored when they hit the post at 0-0, I don’t think the one when they hit the bar at start of the second half would have made much difference.
But you want baffling substitutions? I can understand the players who’ll be starting on Sunday coming off but why did Morgan, CHO and Murillo (and Aina to a lesser extent) all come on? Why not give one of the kids 10 minutes?
Maybe Dyche isn't fixated on minutes being a bad thing and possibly sees some value in them sharing in a win. Maybe some of these players want European appearances against their names. Maybe he wanted to stuff the unpronounceable bastards with their shithouse Derby flag right into the middle of next week and stop them slowly bouncing around like a lobotomised fucking Tiger.
To be fair, they did make a big deal of it being Morgan's 150th appearance for the club (level with Guy Moussi, one short of Gary Parker) and Callum's 100th (level with Guedioura and Peter Withe). And it will mean that Murillo gets to 100 on Sunday.
