I would disagree entirely with this. Tavares looked like the liability we thought he would be defensively. I suggested to the boy that the injury was a means to get away from the hell he was enduring. Montiel is much more attacking than defensive. He was repeatedly overlapping but not being played in by Elanga I think. You could see him throw his hands up as yet again he would have been through and the pass hadn't come.
That's the point that people criticising MGW miss. Everyone agrees that Rhodri deserved to be sent off but no-one wants to admit he'd have stayed on if Morgan had stayed on his feet.
What did we change after 15-20 minutes that made things better. My lad said Cooper referenced City setting up different to what we thought so had to change us a bit which I assume is why we looked better in second half of first half?
League position is obviously not terribly important at this stage. But to be 12th after those 6 games (assuming Newcastle don't lose to Sheff U) is, I think, better than anyone could have realistically hoped.
