Didnt Wes Morgan used to do something similar in his early years?

I think there was a brief period when Wes played left back and went on a couple of barnstorming forays down the touchline. Graham - formerly of this parish - described it as like a blind man skiing - every step was fraught with danger but there was a tremendous sense of achievement at the end.

The one that springs to mind is erstwhile lump Jon Olav Hjelde suddenly turning into George Best in Harty's first game in charge, and dribbling the ball the length of the pitch out of nowhere (my memory may be exaggerating slightly but it was ace).

I think Murillo is a far better footballer than either of those. He’s done the dribble run thing before and his passing can be excellent.

I don't think the concern is whether he's any good at it, it's that he leaves us somewhat open at the back when he does. He has many attributes but pace doesn't appear to be one of them.

Excellent football skills. Has yet to learn when to hold 'em, and when to fold 'em.

Unless we fuck him up badly, or he doesn't improve his matchplay, we are going to make an absolute fucktonne of money on him. Unfortunately part of the process of earning cash, will be living with the mistakes through the learning process.

He can move when he needs to..

Still didn't look especially rapid. And when he made the run against Newcastle, he was clearly completely knackered trying to get back - could barely get past a jog.

Tricky I think summed it up quite succinctly. It would be a bad idea, I think, to try and stop him doing it, but I think that the manager is going to have to make sure that the full backs and the midfield account for it, and that when Murillo does decide to go full Diego someone assumes responsibility to drop back a little and fill the space that he is vacating.

I thought Danilo did the covering on Tuesday for him.

He's had a difficult second album...but I still have him as a developing artist. Cash in pocket wise.

I believe he got a call up for Brazil recently. Which was frankly a bit surprising.

Again, I'm not entirely sure what the expectation is with Danilo. He's not even been here a calendar year yet, is only 22 and has had a couple of significant spells out injured in that time.

Spoke no English when he got here and moved halfway across the world for the first time in his life. There are basic human being elements here before you get to the football side - and let's face it, the often-kamikaze way our club is run doesn't exactly lend itself to new players having a secure platform to be slowly integrated into a settled side to show what they can do.

Danilo has indicated enough for me in flashes over the past 12 months to suggest he has all the tools to become a very solid Premier League footballer.

    Nope, full squad: www.skysports.com/football/teams/brazil/squad

PS: Love how blaise we are about one of our midfielders getting called up for Brazil now. It barely got a mention in the local press. How times have changed!

PPS: I guess this is a provisional squad and that he'll get trimmed (?). But still.
