It amused me when Elanga scored and then pointed to the Adidas logo on his shirt. Either he’s fishing for a sponsorship deal or he isn’t quite sure where the Forest badge is.

That amused me too. Either intentional, or needs to learn how mirrors work.

"Ipswich really should be more competitive, given what they've spent..."

Fuck sake. They were in the third division two years ago, you prick. Either be a bit more arsed in the nuance of your role on MOTD, or please fuck off.

Southampton and Leicester should be more competitive, given they’ve spent 10 of the last 11 seasons in the premier league…

I think that's fair enough. Ipswich and Forest, though, came up after two decades away. None of that context has ever been acknowledged because national pundits are either too lazy or too think to explain the difference.

As fucking appalling as Danny Murphy is, he's no Andy Townsend.

I think the better pundits have made that clear (partly as a result of Forest fans mentioning it repeatedly). The ones that only part attention to the big 6, aren't interested enough care.

Murphy is better suited to co-commentary, which I think he's decent at.

It's the v minor thing that annoyed me about the Ipswich coverage compared to ours, where their fairytale was romanticised from day 1, while ours was obscured by the spending almost immediately. But that's hardly their fault.

I didn't think Ipswich spent that badly in January, and thought they'd improve. Was that ever wrong though.

A significant part of Ipswich's problem is they don't have the infrastructure or knowledge to look abroad, so they've assembled a championship all-stars XI, with the premium pricing that implies. Delap may be better than Awoniyi but they don't have a Niakhate, Lodi, Aurier. And they played massive parts in keeping us up.

The Leif Davis hype looks overplayed- not quick, not strong, decent left foot. It's just not enough.

Liam Delap looked quite friendly with our players at the end of the game. Would love to see him at Forest next season - long-term replacement for Wood and already probably better than Awoniyi.

Or a manager that is willing to adapt his playing style.

If they've set out to win the championship next year with a team that's young enough to improve, it could pay off.

    Or they could be Luton.

If we're in the champion's league, do we have to look a bit higher than that though? Delap is a lovely player with top potential. But we might be in the market for proven quality of the sort that the Sky Six will be pursuing.

I'd imagine they'll be in for more than one striker.

One more observation from yesterday: players as stunningly unimpressive as Jaden Philogene really shouldn't be adopting the South American model of having their first name on their shirt, for fear of looking like an absolute plum.

My 8 year old asked me why he was pointing at the adidas logo. I went with he probably meant the badge rather than his love of adidas.

Once we scored the first goal we were never going to lose. Ipswich learnt to frustrate us from the cup game and wanted to hit us on the break when we started to get sloppy which we did a couple of times. Once they had to press forward we tore them apart. Anderson's control is silly good in tight spaces and he was doing a great job of breaking the lines once it got congrested. MGW was excellent again. Great running back and tackling and threading play through him when we got the space to open up from breaking up their attacks. Elanga was terrific in the game and that might be his most composed performance in a Forest shirt.

Professional and clinical. MGW was probably our best player but I am giving MOM to Elanga for being such a menace. Aina had an off day again and I wonder if he loses interest if he isn't playing top class opposition.

This is looking good and hopefully we can take The Scum to the sword in the next game to keep momentum up as it was pretty much the perfect results for us apart from Foolham. Five points above 4th is pretty decent and Chelsea look lost without Palmer.

    Chicago: Choo Choo!

Half-decent Ipswich podcast here discussing the Forest game. Aside from a couple of small inaccuracies, they seem to be well informed about us. Worth a background listen if you've got half an hour.

Ah, Benjamin Bloom. Decent championship youtuber. Enjoyed watching his increasing despair as the season has gone on but relegation is probably better for his brand anyway.
