Having seen it back, he didn't go over the barrier, shouldn't have been booked unless it was too long of a celebration. Which, all things considered, it obviously wasn't

All the better because this was no smash and grab. You couldn't have moaned if it was a draw, but we were decent value for the win.

Yeah, most of our wins against the really big boys have had a significant element of luck. Today we had the closest miss as well. We defended well but deserved the win.

The first half was cagey and our usual set up against teams who want to dominate, the second half it felt like we had a lot more control of the ball. When we lose against the top teams it's generally because their central midfield has controlled the centre of the park, but for whatever reason City just couldn't do it today.

We set up as a 433. Morgan centre mid, Nico right, Anderson left, with Elanga floating between centre forward and the two wings. Not sure I've seen that before.

I do find myself wondering if there will come a point soon i.e. this summer when we start worrying about a mega club sniffing around Nuno.

Fortunately, "failure" at spurs is our safely net. No chance of any bigger club wanting him.

Eh, I dunno about that. Conte and Pochettino both went on to excellent jobs after supposed failure at Spurs. Nuno has had Premier League success at two separate clubs now, I think people recognise that Spurs are cursed.

Pochettino failured them to a champions league final, and Conte was already an established elite manager. Not quite the same thing.

    Aye.

It's losing the on the pitch talent we should be worrying about.

Counterpoint: do you, or anyone, believe that Conte or Pochettino would have turned Forest into a legitimate contender, having previously taken Wolves to European football?

I don't think one poor spell at Spurs when they were a basketcase and he was their 8th choice will be as big a black mark against him as some might.

Watching MOTD. Jug ears just reminded Joe Hart and Micah Richards that the last time Forest beat Citeh was the FA Cup in 2009 (and they were both on the losing side). It reminded me of another Webmong7 story. He messaged me the morning of the game. He was driving up and 1 of his mates had dropped out. Did I want to go? I had the day off, but wouldn't have been able to get from Crouch End to wherever in SW London Webmong was setting off from. Forest won 3-0. Tyson, Thornhill and Garner I think. The next day Webmong posted his story. Upon leaving the stadium they tried to go to The Etihad car park (or whatever it was called in 2009). They got corralled into the column of fans getting marched all the way back to whichever central Manchester station it was (Piccadilly?). I think it's quite a walk. Webmong and his mates then hurried all the way back to the stadium car park. They had 'overstayed their parking welcome' and he ended up with quite a parking fine. IIRC he appealed...and lost.

I don't think that, as and of itself, will be a black mark at all. You have compared him to someone who had years of demonstrable progression, and an established elite winning manager. He was there for a couple of weeks. It's really not a valid comparison. What billion pound businesses, who may have more sophisticated selection processes than you, might consider is why he was only there for a few weeks. What impact his preference for a small established squad, and football style, and close links with Mendes, might have on their preferred operating model. Ergo almost no top brand wants to play that style of football, and they want a level of young development project, and they probably don't want to pay a mendes premium for haphazard recruitment.

I'm perfectly happy with what Nuno is doing with us. I like that we have built a quality, but small, squad in this the great squad unbuilding season. It's in very large part what has made us so surprisingly successful this season.

It's not how the big clubs work.

I very clearly remember that Webmong7 story. If there’s one thing (and there are actually several) he’s good at, it’s spinning a yarn. His story about trying to find condoms in Brazil is one of my favorite things to ever be posted on Talkback.

Out of possession want it more 4-4-3, with Elanga going central with Wood up front and Nico doubling up with Aina on Doku
