    Lucca confirmed.

A debut goal on Sunday would be great.

    So, his name is Lucca.
There's got to be a second floor joke in there somewhere.

If we do down and we trigger a buy clause, he can play in the second tier

    @mattemoretto

Nottingham Forest is on Jean-Philippe Mateta.

A significant contract has been proposed to the forward leaving Palace.

In recent days, Milan has returned to inquiring about his situation: he's a name that's been liked since last summer.

    That'd cheer up Palace fans.

Glasner to come in the summer too right. Their heads would explode.

if we survive it will be Silva. Glasner isn't coming here. We missed him the first time. He has his sights on other gigs now. Probably Spuds or Man Utd.

Ah. We are getting ahead of ourselves at the moment. one game at a time. Mateta would definitely help. It seems likely Wood is out for the season. We know the Palace Number 9 is good at holding up the place and bringing others into play. Points make prizes. Goals help too.

    Chicago: Sensing a transfer madness..

I’d love Mateta here but can’t see it happening with how the season has turned out. If Marinakis wants to push the boat out, I expect Strand Larsen is much more realistic .

If Mateta comes here, we pay too much. He also doesn't really score goals.

Erm. He's averaged one-in-three across more than 120 matches for Palace - the overwhelming majority will be Premier League fixtures. Also, scored two in his first three at international level for France.

Had it in my head last season was an outlier. Totally wrong.

    Likewise. Likewise.

I, personally, rate Mateta over someone like Wissa - in terms of someone to play alone up top. He can do more of the isolated battle stuff than most. How a team with the lure and budget of manchester united have gone through Hojlund and Sesko, and haven't got someone like Mateta, I will never understand*.

    * This is football. I don't understand it. Therefore the answer is 'money'. Someway, somehow.
