BBC reporting that Palace have cold feet on the Strand Larsen deal, while Juve and Milan want Mateta.

They've decided £50m is a bit toppy for a guy who's scored one penalty this season...

I'd like Mateta, but it still seems a reach

Exactly. He's clearly waiting to see what better offers he gets. No way he comes here ahead of some of the other clubs he's apparently being linked with.

Reckon he'll end up at Spurs.

Spurs won't be in the Champions League next season. We might.

Reports suggest he’s all agreed but it’s the fee with Palace that’s to be sorted.

Rumour that Palace are interested in that big lump Derby bought from MLS. Derby want Sammy Szmodics from Ipswich, who are trying to sign the mighty Sam Surridge from Nashville.

Rumours of Barry coming back. I love Danilo actually. The good one, not the injured one. This would also make Murillo happy and I like a Happy Murillo..

Anyway, if probably won't happen but it would be interesting.

Palace are going to fuck us around. I hope we get the midfielders and full backs sorted.

    Chicago: Getting antsy.

No doubt I'll feel less pessimistic after we win 3-0 this morning.

    That's two fair predictions there

Feels like we're going to want a left back, centre mid and centre forward as a minimum, by the end of the window.

Surely someone's in today? Not much will happen over the weekend, so that's a lot of business to be done on Monday.

If there’s one thing NFFC are good at it’s bundling a long list of ‘who!?’ over the line in one go.

Romano says Mateta has agreed terms with AC Milan and this is where he wants to go, which makes a lot more sense than him coming here.

Tbh, with Jesus starting to find some scoring form, Lucca here to prove himself, and Taiwo maybe a viable option from the bench, I'm not sure it would be the wisest investment given Mateta's patchy record and reputation for not having the best attitude. Lots of ifs and maybes there but I'm happy trusting to what we have.

I’m about in the same place. I think he’s probably an upgrade on what we have, but I’m not sure he’s enough of an upgrade to justify the transfer fee (not my money, but in my view we need a left sided defender and a midfielder more urgently) and the potential challenge of juggling 4 strikers for one starting spot.

Maybe this is post-hoc but I don't like us spending £35m on anyone as near as he is to 29.
