Everton is more of a strikers' graveyard than here. Beto and Barry have done nothing (apart from score against us) since they've been there.

Left-back Josh Powell has been recalled from his loan at Colchester - he's not featured for a few weeks, so presume it's for another loan to give him game time. (tbh, I think he'll be released in the summer anyway)

And that new loan is to Fleetwood.

Linked with paying decent money (35m eur) for Davide Frattesi of Inter, who appears to be a box to box midfielder. Which makes me think Anderson move is likely.

Saw a line earlier that Ndoye could be a makeweight in the deal.

Hopefully because he's been on a beach somewhere sleeping.

Resident_Alien, dj_bobbins and Andyp like this.

Not sure I can see anyone dropping £80+ million on him at the moment. Who? Doubtful City after Semenyo for £65. Liverpool surely not after £400m in the last window. Chelsea? Possibly. Arsenal? I doubt.

Well done for not looking on the mail website, but there is an interview with him today which includes how he wouldn’t be in the England squad if he hadn’t joined Forest.

And an article about Man Utd wanting Murillo.

Since when have City ever been limited by spending money before? If Pep thinks he’s gets them to catch Arsenal, they’ll pay up.

Elsewhere, Oxford are eyeing a £1m-plus bid for Jamie McDonnell.
(I think we'd be better sending him on loan there to the end of the season (step up from L1 to Championship), giving him a pre-season with the first team and then deciding whether he is worth either a place in the squad, another loan or to cash in. but appreciate I'm slightly less qualified to make such judgements than our coaching team!).

    Fee agreed reportedly.

Ah thanks, that's good to know (ando, not murillo).

I'm not sure Man U have the cachet they once did. No manager, decent chance no Europe next year. I suspect Murillo's move is Spain.

Pretty sure we’ve been round this loop before but, while they have obviously declined since Ferguson left, they are still the biggest club in the country.

I don't think either of those things are true. As someone who lives in the international market, I think their brand is way less popular than it was. That's the thing about turning football clubs into brands, you are by definition subjecting yourself to a fashion defined by success.

ManYoo had a massive head start on being a brand. They’re still getting fat from that.. but as the profile of the league has grown overseas, youngsters have been picking from a wider range of teams… cos success counts for a lot. ManYoo haven’t been champions for over a decade and haven’t been the dominant force for a lot longer. The glory hunters who latched on to Chelsea and Citeh as kids are now consumers, and, of course, players.

So yeah.. they’re probably not as big a deal to people who’ve not grown up with them being what they were.

They apparently pay very high wages. That suggests they are competing for players with their wallets.. not their status. Murillo can do better and he probably will. He probably wants Spain, but Liverpool and Chelsea are more likely to rock up with the money to make ot happen.
