Conversely, I can feel the relief and happiness shining out of this post, you're so desperately uncomfortable with Forest being good that on a rare day when we're not you seem overjoyed that we've reverted to who you're utterly convinced we really are.
We aren't third in the league by accident. We had a bad day today, but we're still third in the league well over halfway through the season. Europe is absolutely a realistic goal.
Totally. Yes we got hammered away. In extremely unusual terms. A shadow of the side we have been for the majority of the season, but what I liked to see was numerous signs of frustration with themselves from the players.
They absolutely know that they are better than what they showed today, and I'm convinced they will want to put it right. You can't toss in eleven bad performances and get a good result. I'd rather have what we have had consistently from the majority of the side all season, then all of them turn in a stinker on the same day rather than set a lower average level of performance.
They haven't lost the desire or belief that they can do something big.
I am livid about today’s result. Maybe we might have expected to lose against a team that plays terrific football. But 5-0? Really? Especially the first goal. It was from the worst days of SSC.
Yes, we are not third by accident. I’ve been delighted by our performances and results and we have played well this season. However, I think teams will begin to figure out a way to play against us and we will have several more off days. As Nuno said: when we don’t do the basics right we are a very fragile team. I’d also like to see a couple of players come in who can make a difference.
Let’s see where we are after the next 5 league games.
Hotel pricey but ropey. Town centre a war zone. Good meal last night but mrs charlie spent half the night throwing up. As for the game... awful, just awful. Now wondering nervously what else is going to happen.
Whether Nuno instructed us to play differently I don't know but we seemed spread all over the place. No positional discipline. The only player worth his wage was Elanga and we didn't give him the ball enough.
Gibbs White has been good recently but I didn't remember him being on the pitch for the first half hour.
Really? I just can't get that troubled by it these days - must be getting old. To be honest, if you'd asked me back in August, I'd have not unreasonably predicted a dicking like that well before now this season - and I'd sooner it was at Bournemouth's hands than Arsenal, City or, god forbid, Slot and Liverpool. Great that both of us are upsetting the established order.
This team just smashed Newcastle 4-1 on their own pitch so maybe they're a decent side, we caught them with their tails up and Forest simply had an off-day.
Sometimes I think modern football fans would sack a manager every time they lose a game. 23 games played, goal difference still positive. In the European qualifying places. Massive surprise. At this point there is zero reason to catastrophise.
I’m not catastrophising. I agree that we are way above where I expected or hoped us to be (mid table obscurity). What I’m actually saying that I think there has been far too much hubris about Forest and a dose of realism was overdue. I just prefer it wasn’t a 5-0 lubeless buttfucking from Bournemouth. Hopefully people will become more grounded.
