Was that one that CHO limply hit against their wall?
Also, on McAtee: it’s only 2-3 weeks since everyone was making the same “for that money, he’s too lightweight, not a premiership player” argument about Hutchinson. Or, in some notable cases, “Sangare? Fuck the Fuck Off!”
N'Doye for me is still too weak on the ball but you cannot deny that he is a grafter. I also think he is getting stronger but not Prem Sturdy yet. Ironically Mr.Hamstring Douglas Luiz is strong as fuck and really hard to take the ball from. So if Dan can get Brazilian strong & nasty then we will have a player.
McAtee is nowhere near MGW at the moment. I seem to think you (SImon) aren't that sold on Morgan. I think he is currently light years away from James. He (McAtwee) has the skill set. He is Silky player but he isn't robust enough yet. Not to say he won't get there but I suspect the management team (who are currently Beasting Bawka to get him match fit) will be looking to recitify that.
Kalibueno was decent last night and I have no doubt he is talented but he needs some Jesus juice. Once he is stronger (No-one can get Taiwo strong) he could quite well be an asset. I still think he maybe should go on loan to get that experience in if Big T wasn't made of biscuits but i guess he is just going to have to take his chances when he can.
Interesting that no-one has any reservations about Zach Abbbot. He seems strong and his passing is rather good for an out of position centre back.
McAtee is about the build of a malnourished 12 year old and he'll be fuck all use until he bulks out despite some excellent ball controll. The next person to let him take a corner should be shot. Twice.
Sangare was abject until Dyche arrived, in multiple starts.
Everyone was not making that argument about Hutchinson, at least not on here. In fact everyone bar me was supportive of him, and my position was that he hadn't shown much to justify why he cost so much. He subsequently has and I have already been entirely happy to hold my hands up and say that he's starting to look like a player.
McAtee is in the same camp Hutchinson was, for me, except unlike Hutchinson he's had a couple of starts and failed to do much with them.
It's OK to have expectations of players who cost such mindbending amounts of money, and to be disappointed when they fail to demonstrate any signs of why they did. It's also OK to express those expectations and disappointments, and then to modify one's position if they give you reason to.
This is very true. And he’d had a couple of seasons at it for this to have been a fair judgment. I also agree that he currently looks like a proper player.
The others being discussed have only been here a couple of months and they need at least a season under their belts before being proclaimed as the next messiah or more likely royally discarded because they put a corner into the side netting.
Also a Simon. The Psy part of the username. Our mental colonial chum might mean that. I'm in the Gibbs White is good but needs to be a lot better camp. And needs to get subbed when he is shit.
We can change three players after the group stage. Ola will be one, as it stands you'd expect Hutchinson to be the second but it depends on who we sign in January.
Without wishing to invoke gay week, I'm really excited by Hutchinson on his limited exposure! He beats defenders inside and out and does something useful with the balls.
Presumably by the same magic that Ange used to make outstanding players like Morgan suddenly turn into complete scrubs. It's almost like it's a team game and it's possible to set up in a way that gets the best out of players, or the worst out of players.
Sangare is clearly decent enough. He's seemingly not good enough to exert himself on a game in which the team hasn't been effectively set up to work around him, the way someone like Anderson is. That's ok, not everyone is Elliot Anderson. I'm happy that Sangare currently looks effective, but I'd still absolutely listen to any reasonable offer for him in a month's time. Which is probably a bit less than we paid, but I don't trust him to continue in his current very short if promising vein, and I'd get out if the option was there.
