This may come back to haunt me badly, but the more I listen to the dulcet tones of Nuno the more I think he is a class act. He approaches interviews and press conferences as a box to tick rather than a PR piece or an opportunity to disperse misinformation on team news to confuse the opposition and he just firmly doesn't let himself get drawn into shit. But I increasingly get a sense there's he's a lot more thoughtful and tactical than maybe his public speaking suggests, and he certainly seems to have the right calm temperament and diplomatic approach that balances out the other stuff that sometimes goes on at our club.He might not yet have got enough credit for the job he did on us last season which was a bit of a bloody nightmare. There's also been suggestion in some quarters that he has had influence in correcting our position on PSR in the current accounting period by giving the club a clear ultimatum after last season ended: no idea if that's true or not, but it feels like we are on a surer and more stable footing now and certainly the only preseason he has overseen has felt a lot more professional and positive than any others we've had for years.
Like many people I've been reading and watching a lot about Sven Goran-Eriksson in the last week, and Nuno reminds me of him in some ways with his understated, polite, calm, nothingness style of presentation.
I still don't really get what his style of play is or have a clear idea of what his football identity is, if there is such a thing. But the players seem to respect him highly, and I'm increasingly confident he has a plan, just one I am probably too stupid to see.
