...ooh, aren't I a meany for making you use a modern secure login? Although you can't be surprised at middle aged inertia - when you have members literally suggesting that the absence of a category that they've imagined, means that they can't have a specific discussion. As if thats some sort of killer mike drop argument against a feature, that exists, that they have no use for. Sigh.
In other news, a young lady of my aquaintannce after reading a bit of talkback observed:
It would be nice sometimes, if people were a bit more understanding of the implications of their idiotic ill considered tossed out (let's call them) ideas.
Moan moan moan, why can't things always be the same, why can't it just be easy for me, and me not have to do anything?
The simple answer is because thats inconvenient for me. Because the current board has vulnerabilities and is not a modern secure platform. Because the maintenance overhead on it is very high, and that it is constantly being hammered by bot farms trying to gain access, to the extent that every other database request can't be completed because of activity ( the connection problems page) at certain times.
That costs the server in cpu cycles, it costs it in bandwidth. It costs me in constant maintenance and monitoring. That literally costs me. It costs me in time. It costs me in money. That affects not only TalkBack, but other things that I run on the server.
So the broad thrust is that you'd like to keep coming over to my house. Shitting on the carpet. Then fucking off and leaving me to deal with the mess. Sorry fella's. Not happening.
On the whole I do try to discuss options, and go forward with a consensus. But on this you can all get fucked, if it comes to a choice between you and me. Because I'm making that choice.
So quit your fucking whining, and learn to use a simple modern 2fa authentication scheme. If you don't mind.
I promise you that I don't care if you find it hard. Get your fucking head around it, or get fucked. But I won't be, just because you can't be arsed. It is literally the way of the world, get used to it, or get out.
Would be my broad brush stroke feelings on the matter.
