Don't think there's anyone with a permanent contract there we are rushing to tie down long term. They are mostly "thank you, goodbye" with a few "let's see how this season goes and maybe have a chat in the new year".

At my first "proper" job someone gave me the advice that, if you were ever working somewhere where it looked like redundancies we in the offing, make sure you always walk around carrying a box, so it looks like you've got things to do. Maybe he does that?

Incidentally, that was also the employer where everyone got called into an office on a Friday afternoon to be told that anyone not in that offfice were currently being told that they no longer worked for the company.
