Interesting that Pereira didn't dress up Morato and Lucca's absence from the squad yesterday by saying they had picked up knocks. Just that he'd picked the squad based on performances.

I get the point you're making, but you can't seriously be suggesting 35m on that make a wish kid is sensible?

Definitely not. Purely deploying sarcasm without the hint of anything constructive.

We have a problem though. Jesus is good. Outstanding movement, excellent at getting hold of the ball, can't find space, can't finish. Tiawo is a lovely lad. Can't head, can't kick. Hold up play average. Can run. His name is Lucca. Can't run. No real evidence of being able to kick. Can lampost. Then apart from CHO, MGW, Aina, and Anderson, the rest of the team is probably below average on goal/assist contributions. We are decent - without being above average - on the ball, for the level, some really good moments, mostly slow to get on the ball or failing to come out with it in most areas of the pitch. We have a really good defensive back line (Neco, Aina, and the M&M's). First change in all positions is a big drop off.

So we probably need a striker in good goalscoring form to provide a threat, and make stuff happen in the danger area.

    We haven't got one.

Of course there is the (as yet unspecified) magic tactics that can fix that. You would have thought that one of the four managers that we've had would have spotted something so obvious to the fans, but no. In reality they are constrained by the attributes at their disposal.

And that was after one of Morato’s ‘better’ performances…..

Indeed. They say there is nothing new in the world and this is all very 1992/3 isn't it?

Gary Bannister (was that also the time of Gary Bull)?

If we play three at back can we play Jesus alongside another striker (though that would be Lucca or Taiwo so hmmm)?

Edit. Wiki tells me Bannister scored 8 goals. What we would give for an 8 goal striker now....

I thought that yesterday. Wasn't that also the Rosario (Lucca) season?

I quite liked Gary Bannister. He felt like a proper Forest player who if we'd signed him at age 22 rather than 32 might have a decent career with us.

He reminded me a bit of Jemmo. (could have said, somewhat cruelly 'post-car crash').

It also reminds me of 1982/83 when I lived in Brighton and the Seagulls were fighting on two levels - league and cup. The whole town was in a frenzy as the team got to Wembley (Istanbul) and almost won it (And Smith must score...) before being bummed 4-0 in the replay. Amidst all the excitement, the league was an annoying distraction, and the result was relegation.

I rather suspect (and I hate to admit it, hope) that our Europa distractions will be over soon. Its heartbreaking to say it as it should have been the springboard to a whole new level for the club, better players, more experience to big occasions, raising ambitions etc etc. But its turned into an albatross around our neck.

At least he's watching the same game as the rest of us.

He did say that he only chose only one centre half for the bench, and wanted a left back there as well as Neco was tired.

Had a quick look at tickets for Euro home tie. It's fair to say season ticket holders have not rushed to buy.

Part of me hopes that whenever Guru watches Arse on TV and hears North London Forever he responds with 'fuck off back to Plumstead'. With or without the la la las. Or any references to Dial Square.
    Probably not.
'Fun' fact - my maternal grandfather (who died before I was born) worked in the Woolwich Arsenal during the war, Rodders.
