I don’t think any of us would choose to do it at all, let alone now - but if we’re going to change managers we need to do it quickly.
We will probably never know what’s really been going on (not that this will stop speculation & internet FACTS - indeed they’ve been going for hours already). It’s very sad, because I like Nuno to SSC levels, which I didn’t expect when he arrived.
I had thought that his recent gloomy interviews were easily containable (since they were given before the recent signings), but Nuno seems to double down with each interview, which doesn’t feel promising to me. He’s a good guy & an excellent manager, but he’s always had his eccentric & stubborn side. It doesn’t feel that this is 100% on the owner.
Like it or not, without Marinakis we wouldn’t be anywhere near where we are now - more likely closer to Sheffield Wednesday than to Europa League. Intermittent chaos kind of comes with the territory, & there’s very very little we can do about it anyway.
Even if they patch it up now (which they might, in a Cooper stylee), it would only take a downturn in form for Nuno to be gone. Self-fulfilling strategy?
What do you think he's hoping will happen from doing this interview? If he thinks things are broken beyond repair then quit. I don't like that he's agitating to be sacked a few weeks after signing a new contract.
Me neither, & a good question. It’s very hard to see what he wants, unless he’s simply thinking that he’d get more money if he is sacked than if he walks away.
Odd & rather unedifying. But if we’re looking for edification, modern professional football is probably not the sanest place to seek it.
...there's not a lot of point going into pro's and cons, or the gross stupidity of sacking a manager who plotted how to successfully buck the general modern (meant in every way as a snidey comment) football trend. It's not about football, not much is these days. The only real point is that it doesn't matter what you think. You support Marinakis, or you don't. The thing that you previously thought of as nottingham forest doesn't exist. It's just a brand name, that's been subsumed into a bigger corporate entity, and is entirely dependent on it's whims.
I will not enjoy watching us play under the grumpy australian one trick pony twat.
