I see that Forest have used that spelling, is that being used because the official language is French? I have always seen it as Yashin as in Lev Yashin after whom it is named.

    Hope Sels wins it, obviously.

The new away kit looks lovely. Cream with gold stripes and a shadow weave.

I might buy a kit for the first time in years.

Well yeah, but there’s no s or h in the Cyrillic alphabet so the French way of spelling it with a c is just as legitimate as ours really….

Yeah not questioning the validity, it’s just the first time I have noticed that spelling used.

Never been interested enough to go beyond the headlines in the English press, will obviously be following more closely this year.

Yeah I like that. £75 though. Think I’ll wait till the end of the season and get it for £25.

I'm guessing no one is planning to go full kit wanker anyway, but the shorts look terrible with it. They just seem to be an of the shelf plain white, so overall it looks like a PE kit patched together from the lost property box.

The shirt does look good on the fashion photos though, which I suppose is the point.

Is the badge photoshopped on the shorts in all these pictures or is it just the embroidering that makes it look artificially flat?

And then you realise that (on TB at least) we're all (mostly) middle aged men of less than the athletic build ideally required to not make a light coloured slim fit polyester shirt look ridiculous when worn.

Which is the second reason, after the price, that I haven't bought a football shirt for a long time!

For those of a more lumpy build, the retro shirts (European cup winners, 1960s with the stag badge, various others) in the club shop are made from a slightly heavier, less clingy material and are more forgiving. They're also about half the price and you can wear them every year until they or you fall apart.

I bought myself the new one (XL size of course) on Tuesday, along with Little Miss Shady a shirt and cap that she wanted. That was an expensive visit to the club shop.

Had one of those from quite some time ago....don't know where it went. I do have a cotton leisure wear Munich '79 commemorative shirt. It's what I wear if I want to be 'in colours' attending a match, or other social activity.

I'm in the football shirts, only for playing football (or other sports) camp.

The smell of fat sweaty middle aged men in man made fibres, crammed into a small space while also reeking of stale beer, is one that I've, quite frankly, had enough of.

Which reminds me, I was tempted by the blackout Collymore away retro... though I've often thought thete's something a bit weird about the 'retros' that I clearly remember going to watch players playing in, now being replicated but not made by the original manufacturer. Feels a bit cheap somehow.
