Four mentions for our egotistical owner in the piece, so at least he'll be happy. Especially at being described as ambitious and how the club is "in great hands" with him.

I'm hearing Cartledge got the full Coopering.

The story when he was appointed was that he was ideal man to lead the club as they looked to rebuild the ground. Nothing's really progressed on that front, has it? (Aside from agreeing to buy the lease if they ever sort out the planning.)

I took this to mean that he wanted the Toton build and now that's off. But that's very much my extrapolation rather than any knowledge.

Yeah, Cartledge got nothing happening in his 15 months in charge, whereas Randall got nothing happening over 5 years, so let's get him back. Makes sense.

This is in line with what I'd heard, i.e. the owner was not impressed at the way he handled the ground negotiations with the council and how it subsequently became a public spat. Forest, presumably instructed by Cartledge, drove all of that as a very deliberate PR tactic.

I thought the returning chair left because of the FFP bother (and being an eminent sports lawyer and all), but maybe I'm wrong about that. Never thought much of the outgoing guy, thought he seemed a bit abrasive in interviews.

I think you have to be prepared to rewrite the narrative as events go along, or else just blank it out.
