Very much doubt Radio Nottingham would have the staffing capacity, or maybe even the rights, to provide full-match commentary on a pre-season friendly.

  • 13 Jul 2024, 3:45 p.m.

There's commentary on Forest TV, for a small fee with Crossley as a co-commentator.

  • 13 Jul 2024, 3:46 p.m.

You can stream it off (of) Forest TV or whatever it's called nowadays if you're that fussed.

Or you can buy a bundle of all pre-seasons for twenty four English pounds and ninety nine pee. Or something.

Taiwo not going on the preseason to Spain because he's attending to a personal matter. I'm starting to not have very much patience left for him.

  • 17 Jul 2024, 12:51 p.m.

Depends on the nature of the personal matter, surely? If it's family-related and serious then that's the priority.

Agree with you on the seemingly-constant injury front.

  • 17 Jul 2024, 12:56 p.m.

Sure. But in the end the most important ability is availability, and Taiwo keeps finding ways to not be available. I wouldn't shed a tear if we replaced him.

What's the problem, don't you think footballers should have personal lives, feelings, or get injured?

He's a nice young man. Being an elite athletic footballer with his build is not trivial. He does not at all strike me as a casual lead swinger. Few of them are that reach the sort of level he has.

An absence from pre-season will obviously set a footballer back. Everyone knows that, so this is likely to be for a very good reason. It's a blow, but my immediate thoughts are to wish him well.

  • 17 Jul 2024, 1:07 p.m.

I wish him no ill, but I care about Nottingham Forest. He is unreliable and thus a hindrance.

  • 17 Jul 2024, 1:34 p.m.

I wouldn't like to work for Russ Plc.

  • 17 Jul 2024, 1:55 p.m.

What is "Nottingham Forest" to you? ie what are those bits that you care about?

  • 17 Jul 2024, 2:08 p.m.

Being a professional footballer and running a tpp flight football team is not in any way analogous to the typical corporation.

11 men in red laundry kicking ball into net better than the 11 men in different laundry. We've been over this before.

I think Taiwo is important to us. Unless we find someone better, then having him on the field is a marvelous thing. Wood will be 33 next year. He is good, but Taiwo is more dangerous due to the fact that he is a chaos bunny. The trick here is to buy another Striker who can share the load burden with our current two and we will bave a more successful season. Personal issue sounds like family and I for one wish him luck and hope things turn out alright. Also he had a pretty nasty injury last season by the sounds of it and he was rushed back early. He is obviously going to have some setbacks. It took CHO 3 years to look like a footballer again after his achilles injury. It can take time.

There are rumours of us chasing a portuguese striker. No idea whom but maybe he is a young and up and coming fellow who can blend into the squad and help the two older heads.

Anyway hopefully Taiwo comes back and ready to scare the fuck out of Premier League defenders again.

    Chicago: Beacon of Hope.

So you don't care who those are, and you don't care what the "Nottingham Forest" has to do to make that happen?

So why would you make value judgements about component parts contributing to making that happening. You don't care about those bits...only the laundry and the kicking goaling bits. Right?

  • 17 Jul 2024, 2:36 p.m.

    Yes. Exactly my point.

Injuries are unfortunate. Personal issues are unfortunate. At some point a staff member goes from being unfortunate to being unreliable. Taiwo is close, for me.

  • 17 Jul 2024, 2:37 p.m.

Not especially. See also the Ryan Yates argument.

    I don't understand the question.
