Buy our ground for £10million as offered, swap it with County for Meadow Lane, build a mega stadium over the river. Notts County back in the County, Forest back in the City and everything in the world is right again.
Did you not say that he's looked shit on loan? Is it not possible that the management team have looked at the young players we have and decided that they're either not good enough or not ready? I really hate this whole "let's see what we've got" attitude (and it's prevalent among NFL fans as well), as if somehow players are going to suddenly discover some magic when they cross the white line in front of 30K people despite the fact that the guys who work with them every day don't think they are ready.
As for Ribeiro, it seems they don't think he is either. If they knew for a fact that none of the Academy lads were ready, it's not a huge gamble to bring in one who might be closer.
Because you've watched them both enough to have a considered and evidence based view on each one's ability, potential and readiness, or because you're an Academy fan who views Mendes and anything remotely connected to him as being the antithesis of that? Be honest now.
I’m a fan of the academy and homegrown talent being given a shot, which I’ve already admitted.
I’m also concerned by Mendes’ influence given what we’ve been through before and the manager’s close links to him. I’d rather our recruitment was based on what we need, rather than how much money other people can make.
Mendes' influence is how Wolves became an established and stable Premier League team with a squad that's good enough to not even flirt with relegation in years when they're having to sell players and not spend in order to be compliant.
