It's quite the article if you consider what we know about Marinakis' controversial reputation in Greece. If I was writing about someone who had erroneously been accused of match-fixing and burning down a bakery, I think I would at least mention it.

Exactly. As I have already said, we have to decide what we really want. Since the new FFP rules (& I strongly suspect any future evolution thereof, since Turkeys don’t vote for Xmas) are based on revenue, if we genuinely want to compete we have to generate (a lot) more revenue. How many of our rivals are still playing in un-developed old grounds? Palace (who want to move), Liverpoo (have spent squillions on Anfield), Man U (see Liverpool, and planning new ground), Chelsea (see Liverpool, and would move if they could)…

Spurs: new;
Arse: new;
Man City & West Ham: new (tax-payer funded - ker-chinnnggg);
Leicester: new;
Brentford: new;
Brighton: new;
Everton: new very soon;

So that leaves Villa Park, Molineux, St James’ Park & Craven Cottage, all of which have had a lot of money spent on them in recent years. We’re shopping in the Kenilworth Road aisle of this particular supermarket.

…which is all fine, if that’s really what we want. But I think what we actually want (at least, it's what we say we want) is a successful team over a sustained period - one that doesn’t depend on SSC “lightning in a bottle” alignment of the planets, so only come along once every 30 years.

I’d love to stay at the CG; I have just as much emotional investment in the old place as every other Forest fan. But we should at least have the discussion based on real life; mist rolling in ain’t gonna pay for shit on its own

But, of those, only West Ham and Brighton have made anything like the kind of move that is being proposed here. Brighton didn't have a ground, so that's an exceptional case and West Ham is London, so public transport is at a different level.

If the CG can't be converted to modern stadium, then I'm not dead set on staying but the location has to work and Toton just doesn't. The 90s was the era of out of town stadiums, I thought we'd moved past that now and realised that an industrial estate on a dual carriageway is a terrible place to put a football ground.

I agree the whole stadium needs updating, not just the Main Stand.
The exec is 45 years old, Trent End and Bridgford Stand are 30 years old. Built in different times, for different needs. The hospitality areas are pretty small and poor.

However, I don't believe we need to move, especially if we can purchase the land the club is on already.
We actually have quite a large footprint with the exec car park. That extends to the canal, nothing residential to worry about on the other side. (the boathouses there should be a lot easier to move than the ones the other side of the ground)

Build a new stand behind the Exec, then knock down the Exec and move the pitch over. Then rebuild the other stands one by one to be around the relocated pitch.

Although, I still think we should have bought the land the other side of the river (where the new flats are) and looked to buy up everything between the canal, Trent and Cattle Market Rd/Meadow Lane . Then built a new CG on the banks of the canal/Trent directly opposite where we are now. (and include a mini 10k stadium for County/academy/women etc, similar to the Cardiff Arms Park/Principality Stadium set-up).

I should probably point out it's not a price I want to pay.

I agree Toton is a shit location but I’m not against a move at all if the ambitions can’t be achieved at the CG.

I often sit in Upper BC these days, and it’s terrible. Not much room in the seat, have to arrive early to get in on time. Not much chance of getting a drink and an absolute mission if you need the toilet. Made the mistake of sitting on one of the back three rows of the lower tier for the palace game. No leg room at all, people struggling to get in and out even when stood up. It was far from enjoyable.

Similar. Near the back of the lower Exec. Near the Trent End. Awful. I'm not a huge guy, but I could barely sit in the seat. There was terrible leg room. Much worse than anywhere I've sat in the stadium

How fat are you people? You also need to get clued up on the secret toilet and the Beerjet.

Good luck getting out in a fire though, best bet is making a jump for it.

Lower Exec has always suffered from the fact they just bolted seats onto the existing terrace and there's not enough space.

That sounds like a two season operation - so presumably we'd be at Meadow Lane for the interim? Welford Road is the only other place I can think as a possibility and I'm not sure how realistic that is for football.
