    That's my point. While we see the pubs around West Bridgford and south of the city centre as a benefit to being at the City Ground, if you are looking at the club's PSR compliance, that's millions of pounds of revenue that's being lost. (Very, very conserative estimate - 10,000 people drinking/eating outside the ground, averaging £10, 20 times a season = £2,000,000, or roughly what they'll get from the ST price increase.)

    And that's going to change because....?

  • 9 May 2024, 9:45 a.m.

    As you say, that's very conservative. There's a ton of knock-ons too.

    I don't see Toton as an option without some serious investment in the transport links from the council - which is going to be hard for them to commit to when they're so screwed for cash.

    I agree with the point, but reckon it’s a much lower amount of people (3,000 - 4,000 maybe?) spending money in pubs / on food etc. The vast majority of people just go to and from the match.

    Bardills will be fucked on match days

  • 9 May 2024, 10:18 a.m.

    Maybe but I think £10 is a low estimate, so probably balances out roughly. Was just trying to get a feel for the sort of figure we were talking about.

    And if you increase the capacity by 20,000, you also increase the food/drink spend.

    I can't even hazard a guess at the current amount spent in the ground - I probably buy a coffee twice a season when I forget how bad it is but there always seems to be queues at the bars.

    Call it 10,000 spending around £5 on average I guess? £50,000? Seems low. Probably more.

    I think these figures are in the annual reports if we could be bothered to look them up.... Kieran Maguire always seems to talk about matchday revenue tables in the podcast (and how far ahead Spurs are).

    @lianoskostas

    Benfica's chief scout Pedro Ferreira is joining Nottingham Forest at the end of the season after a successful 14-year stint with the club, as per Record #NFFC

    Also someone needs to tell them that the Etihad "campus" is about a 20-25 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly. Toton is more than 6 miles from Nottingham station.

    If the real agenda is Eastcroft and Toton is the "look, how much worse it could have been" option, then I still don't like it but at least there's some sense.

  • 9 May 2024, 11:03 a.m.

    You think there could be some movement on the eastcroft site? Seems a definitive no on the article.

    If we decide to move then that is a good a place as any to go to.

  • 9 May 2024, 11:34 a.m.

    I think changing industrial-designated land to leisure use is not difficult, particularly when it's that close to the city centre. More likely the council has an eye on it long-term for residential, which is far more lucrative. (Likewise, the CG site is a prime residential site with waterside frontage, riverside views etc, which is probably where the argument over rent comes from - what the council could realise commercially, versus what the club is willing to pay (given that when the lease was originally agreed 100-plus years ago, that land was all fields)).

  • 9 May 2024, 11:37 a.m.

    Not sure that Eastcroft is suitable for residential. I think that land around there is contaminated.

    Started following me on Twitter at the weekend. Which I was a bit surprised about. There's some Forest content, but a hell of alot moaning about active travel infrastructure.

    How quickly we forget the Leicester City fairytale

    @nathanjoyes1

    Certainly an eye-catching appointment for #NFFC. Benfica have been one of the best clubs in Europe for identifying and signing South American talent over the last decade. A story worth following.

    Nathan knows his stuff about South American football.

    Seems good on paper, though knowing the Greek overlord, he’ll be gone by December as whomever we sign this summer fails to have us in the top 6 by October 31st….
