I saw him do a puff piece about Sheffield yesterday. He's obviously on a northern charm offensive.
Well, it's local elections, isn't it?
The Notts thing is disappointing. He could also have endeared himself to Forest fans by mentioning that his team's shirts originally came from us.
Did he visit the new library?
Whilst I'm sure that it would be lovely for politicians to coochy-coo us, and tickle us on the tummy, I'm more interested in ones that stop kicking us in the balls and nicking our stuff. Bedside manner is not on my personal wish list.
Agreed, but being seen as empathetic and cuddly is on their wish list. And I'm surprised that Starmer wasn't better informed (or better briefed).
Lots of people, even many in football, refer to us as notts forest. Most people are wrong about most things, most of the time.
I believe that tolerance and eyes on the real prize, rather then constantly getting derailed by the avalanche of shit, is the way forward.
Just because a politician tells you that they are a fan of Aston Villa, or West Ham, or Burnley, depending on the day, or how well they recall their briefing, should play absolutely no part in the mind of rational educated observers. It's there for the idiots.... because unfortunately we live under a system where idiots hold the casting vote.
I would have a lot more respect for politicians who were wholely honest. But that's not possible because we compromise them by holding them to an impossible and hypocritical standard. At least we did, at least for those not on the side of the fascist propaganda.
Starmer is interesting because I think he has a genuine interest in football, and probably knows more about it than his immediate advisors. He likely feels comfortable going freestyle on it, to the superficial level required.
In my experience he's not the only arsenal fan to call us notts forest. In fact I knew one who also played for us who did.
By all accounts Starmer was a decent amateur footballer and it’s obvious he does actually like the game rather than pretend like many politicians do.
The whole Notts Forest thing is something that has never boiled my piss.
A mate of mine (also an Arsenal fan) plays Sunday football with Starmer in London. Apparently he’s ok at football, not as good as type thinks he is, but is a proper fan. Unlike every other prime minister for the last 14 years.
In my experience, all footballers are that type.
Percy says we are hopeful that Taiwo will be back for the run in.
When does he think the run in starts? There's only 6 games left.
5 games left
How did we do?
Perhaps he said that we are hopeful that Taiwo will be back for runin'? One day. Maybe.
