Why has this not been shut down yet?

    www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-68559597.amp

"Toton already has the infrastructure including a tram stop and railway station."

Done this before but capacity of a tram is about 200: www.thetrams.co.uk/net/trams/#:~:text=The%20top%20speed%20is%2050mph,62%20seated%20and%20129%20standing.

So if you wanted to get half of 50,000 out by tram and you could get a tram every 2 minutes (you can't), it would take 2 hours.

Is the railway station Attenborough? I've only been through it but it's tiny isn't it? And, now I know where the stadium would be, a good two miles away.

So you are talking about tens of thousands of cars all leaving on the A52 and the vast majority of them going East.

The principle has to be walking distance from the city centre. The catchment area for the club is large and that central gathering point is essential, all out of town options eliminate sections of support from access.

That said, it should be the City Ground and an agreement shouldn't be hard to come by. It's perfectly reasonable for the council to seek a higher rental with them struggling financially and the club awash with money from the Premier League. It's also highly beneficial to the city and county to have a successful club bringing people and money to the area and they should collaborate accordingly. I can't help but think we are using a public bust up as a helpful PR exercise around a so far stagnant project, it's the kind of thing we do like making public announcements for good news stories that turn out not to be entirely true, but I also accept that I have a natural cynicism around the ownership that can also cloud my view a bit.

It feels like there is a lot of willy waving at the moment when there is actually a reasonably simple route to a solution that keeps us at the City Ground, if everyone fronts up to the table with honest expectations.

Would you accept a 3 point deduction with no right of appeal at this stage?

I think so. Would put us level with Luton and 9 games to get more points than them.

They should give us an extra 3 points for causing all this stress

My first calculation was right - 25,000 people, 200 per tram is 125 trams, which in the impossible event of being able to run one every two minutes is four hours.

I get all the arguments for staying at the CG but if the club actually want to get with the big boys they're going to need a bigger capacity stadium (and not just a few extra boxes stacked in a corner) so they can increase their turnover.

Talk of Toton however is a load of old bollox. When I read it the first time I thought it was just a tongue in cheek suggestion by a county council wondering what they could do with the land they now can't dispose of thanks to HS2. Seems to me that people have picked it up and ran with it though because what's better for clicks than getting all the plebs up in arms about something as precious as a football ground?

Anyway, whoever it was on here that suggested a new ground at a city centre site with all the infrastructure already in place was bang on. And we have such a place already - Broadmarsh. Let's face it, it would be better than the fookin wild wetland.

Surely not big enough unless they move the bus station and take over a fair chunk of Lister Gate.

Does seem fairer to let tomorrow's game go ahead without either team getting the lift of knowing and then give everyone two weeks to let the news settle before they play again.

To be honest, if the club really wants to get with the big boys in any real sense then they would be better looking at their strategy and processes than simply trying to add extra seats. We will never have the financial power of the biggest clubs, that's nothing new we never have had, and the only way we can hope to compete is by being cleverer about how we operate and make fewer mistakes with the resources we do have. Arguably the City Ground, the history and connection to it, is one of the strengths we can apply in that mix.

A cynic might suggest that they're waiting for the result of tomorrow's game before deciding how many points to dock us...

I can’t imagine the people making these decisions work weekends.

Agreed. But maybe the lawyers do who have to write it up?

I can assure you they won't give a flying fuck about the timing of our game tomorrow.

If they don’t, they’ve breached their own timetable and, I’d say, any punishment should be voided.
