Well, if they ever wanted a gold-plated example of fiscal irresponsibility...

Hopefully we'll have a few "Player X" and "Player Y" references in the judgement to spark a bit of intrigue. Also hopefully, none of them as a result of the club wanting to terminate a contract for being arrested for child porn.

I don't think Pete's books were ever officially endorsed.

I've got his 1865-1991 complete record book in the downstairs loo. I cover it up before allowing any grandchildren to go in there.

    www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/2024/february/14/player-signing-session-update/

Seen few posts on twitter yesterday about wiring for hours then being turned away.

Still amazing how Forest are so good at turning good things into bad! I read the email about the signing session and thought if we lived closer we could go, but also thought it'll be absolutely mobbed and chaos.

And lo the prophecy comes true!

People arriving at 1.20pm today (signing starts at 2pm) have been told they are unlikely to meet the players as its already at capacity!
How did the club not know this would be the case?

I'm uncertain what you want the club to do about it. Clone the players?

If only the club had more than 5 players and maybe a big building with lots of seats to put them in then all this pain and heartache could be avoided. Such a shame.

Now actually think the logic of that through.

    I hope you mean 120pm.

Clearly any future event will have to be ticketed. But then, even if the club gives them away, you are setting up a resale market.

It's great the club are doing this, especially during half-term, but clearly needs to be thought about a bit better.
They haven't held open days for a number of years and the post-match autograph pen has been closed since the Liverpool game last season (despite still being advertised on the away fans matchday guide!)
The players have also been told not to stop in their cars when they leave after games, despite upwards of 50 children often waiting in the car park for them (security bundling little children out of the way to move on the one or two players who do stop each week (Toff is usually one) is a sight to behold)
Indeed, when there is traffic stopping them leaving quickly, the players are either directed to drive out the back entrance along the River Trent, or the wrong way up the one-way section away from the ground.

So there was always going to be a demand for people to meet the players.
I don't know why a couple of players not picked (injury/suspension etc) can't go in the club shop/car park for half an hour before every game for example. Would go such a long way to winning over younger fans.

I'm now picturing Jeff, as his avatar, being man handled by Forest security who are threatening to take his autograph book off him in the club car park.

    Worst. Open day. Ever.

The obvious thing is to ticket the event. And hold them more often rather than once every decade.

Forest really are NOT magic on and off the pitch.

    But they never have been.

Why do you want to win over younger fans? The grounds full with at least as many people wanting to be in it.

Life is good for the Forest management team, nothing to worry about.

The modern top flight football club prospers more from football tourists, than traditional supporters.

You are dropping your circa 500 notes a year for a season ticket, and me and two Irish lads are doing £200 for tickets, a meal, and three hours around the game buying drinks and extras. The club will take more out of us in a game, then they will from a 'proper fan' in a year.

Football 'aint what it was, and it's not about ordinary fans any more. It's the 'ship, and they are just mugging you off.
