CHO just sore. Hope this is the case because the fucker deserves a bit of luck. Lacks confidence, i suspect due to injuries, but has shown moments of class.
Anyone now think that Sam Surridge would have been a useful and viable option, given all of these (useless) forward travails? Not to mention a fuck of a lot cheaper - like complying with P&S rules instead of breaking them. No? Still just me?
Of course we talked about it at the time. It's nice to have new shiny, and just kick back and cheer the laundry. I get that. But we have gone about accumulating a squad in a completely shit and scattergun way, that I find completely anti-football (at least the team/squad building aspects of football as I know it).
.... and it's worth pointing out that it didn't have to be this way.
I hate what football has become. And if I was looking from externally, without having a personal attachment, I would find us quite vile. Which is rather grief inducing given how much of my life revolves around involvement in football in general, and forest in particular.
You could stop watching it if it's that bad. I would love us to have a club identity and build squads from the academy up us developing young players and just generally being good too. But it is what it is, it could be worse (like the previous 20 years), and whatever else at least it is entertaining.
Cheaper than who? I find it hard to believe he'd have scored at the same rate as Wood, not least because he didn't. We obviously overpaid for Wood, albeit that's this year's problem not the one we're currently being charged for and can only be a result of us paying off what Newcastle owed him.
If we really got £5m for Surridge and lumped that on a year of Origi, that's incredibly dumb. But I doubt anyone's going to cure Marinakis and son of their love of celebrity and clearly having scored a few for Liverpool did it for them.
I'm with you oh Tricky one. Surridge, given a few consecutive games to prove himself (like Wood got and needed) could have been a good solution.
He's a good finisher, probably a better one than our current no.9.
I always thought the good finisher was massively overhyped. It always took him a few attempts to get one. He was playing in a side that was flying, most average strikers would score a few.
He scored 8 in 37 appearances for us. He got 17 in 86 Championship appearances. 1 in 26 PL appearances. 2 in 9 MLS appearances.
He’s not very good and never will be at this level.
I think that's harsh. He could finish, his movement was good, was pretty strong and he headed the ball well. At 24 there was also a decent amount of room for improvement. I didn't cry when we sold him and it made sense, but keeping him for a bit longer and seeing if we could get him up to the level would have too. I think he had more potential to get up to the level than the likes of Worrall and McKenna. He was in the next tier up with O'brien and Toffolo.
Doesn't make much sense if they are just intending to open a restaurant on the other side of the city centre. Intending to use the hotel to put people up?
