Hold on just a minute there hoss. I don't like them, but if they want to pay me tens of thousands of pounds to run around for 90 or less minutes once a week and get called names by the three men and a dog that form the capacity of their garden shed, I am open to the conversation.

The same written rules that all clubs will equally be judged by? Assuming FFP doesn’t include legal costs, in which case Citeh and their army of lawyers would be relegated tomorrow…

We’re in breach, we seem to think we can negotiate any fine down, I’m struggling to be that concerned either way, this is the same league that allows Saudi ownership, has supported Murdoch for the past 20+ years (Apologies Ned) and frankly stopped being competitive a long time ago. Oh and its the best league in the world..(tm)

We took a calculated risk. We’ll see if it pays off. If this causes the club to finally consider a better working model then maybe some good comes from it.

I hope he isn't pretending that this squad would have stayed up:

Some of those signings were questionable (and questioned) at the time but there's a lot of hindsight going into those judgements of wasted money (and, surely, Olympiacos would have paid a loan fee to cover the amortization of Bowler and Hwang's transfer fees).

No indication (that I could see) of where the figures come from. Of course you don't have to say with hindsight that the policy was not good....plenty of us said beforehand that it's not how we would have done it. But it's none of our business. The owners will do what they want. #supportthelaundry

I think there is some complexity here around timing as well though, the world is evolving around football finance. If we had got a rich owner and got promoted sooner we would have had different rules to deal with. That's not to let anyone off the hook, City absolutely have broken rules and action should follow, but it isn't quite in the same process as us and Everton, as they broke them over a different time period and different framework.

It will be interesting to see if this is the case. Arguably our only period of "success" came in the brief window when this happened and professionals were appointed to run things and were largely allowed to do that. A minor miracle occurred and then it quickly became a playground again, which has brought us here.

You sound like a Liverpool fan! What rules have they been proven to have broken? Let's not forget, they deny the charges.

  • 17 Jan 2024, 2:57 p.m.

    Yes, true.

It's a difficult one to articulate because of the changing landscape. I was trying to say that just because someone did something in the past doesn't mean we can do it now, because the landscape is changing. A bit like how Leicester got away with things because they were first to do it and then the rules adapted to kick everyone else. Innovation is key.

What I didn't want to convey was support for what City have done whether it was inside or outside the rules, just as Leicester were innocent of breaking rules but were still horrible.

    U21s 2-0 up at Uddersfield.
    Shelvey in nets
No McDonnell, Osong or Gardner which suggests they are in the travelling squad for tomorrow.

8-0 in injury time (Huddersfield had a man sent off at 2-0), Forest have hit six in the last 20 minutes.
One for Ateef Konate, two for Kyle McAdam and five from the subs' bench - one for Archie Whitehall, two for Manni Norkett, one for Connor Brown and one for new signing Jamie Newton.

The third shirt is currently half price online if anyone's interested in an over-priced bit of nylon with a dubious sponsor's name plastered across it.

That's some bloody brilliant made up name work there, young man.

  • 19 Jan 2024, 11:49 p.m.

Some lad called Nelson who plays for Reading Ladies is being signed by Olly. Rumours are (and it would hardly be surprising) that it's a holding pattern for him coming to us when he's ready. Luton were also interested but he's realised six months in Athens would be nicer.

His contract is expiring.. I presume a foreign club can get him for less than a domestic one. TBH if that’s the strategy here then it’s very shitty. I don’t know how you’d do it.. but making it impossible for PL sides to poach young talent from the football league for cheap by routing it through a foreign club seems like it would be a good thing.

Leicester did it a few years ago with George Hirst.
