6 games remaining after the 12th April - Wolves h, Everton a, Man City h, Sheff U a, Chelsea h, Burnley a; once we know what the punishment is likely to be.
I suppose not much changes. Win every game we can, build a big enough points buffer for it to not matter. Brilliantly, providing an incentive to go spend big on a top notch striker and keeper in the next couple of weeks.
I cant see why it takes so long to decide, it's hardly rocket science. You thought they could have prebooked the panel for a couple of weeks time. All done and dusted.
We've got to come up with reasons why Brennan's sale in August actually happened in June, if you look at it correctly. And they've got to decide whether time is a flat circle and August is before June. (And whether the Brennan sale, playing nicely and being new to all this means we should get a gentler punishment than those repeat offenders from Liverpool.)
Everton getting pts deducted in the first half of the season, means they know they need to make those pts up. The table is still finding its way.
By the time we may get pts deducted, we don’t know if we can get the pts we need to make up the deficit. And it might be too late.
But, on the other hand. Say we’re six pts clear and get deducted 5 pts (or whatever) and stay out of the relegation zone (and ultimately end the season staying up by a pt) it could be seen as too soft and a type of decision that they made looking at the table and being harsh but sort of lenient.
Definitely an argument to be made about the timing of any deductions.
Hang on, appeal concluded 24th May? So there's a very real possibility that we don't actually know who is down on the last day of the season? Bollocks, no way the league allows that, and no way there's no appeal unless the original ruling is immaterial.
Transfer deadline day now fills the media channels for the run up and the day itself.
Imagine 'Point Deduction Panel' decision day.
People watching folks entering and exiting the building the hearing is in. Random nobodies being interviewed as they leave seeing what they know. Tension builds. It's blockbuster stuff. Think of the advertising revenues worldwide. It's like there is two final days to the season, the match day one and the panel decision day one.
And talking of sponsors, if we have missed by not much, not having a sponsor last year will look a shit decision. We should bill UNICEF or whoever was on the shirts.
As a Leicester fan I'm glad that other teams are being punished. We did things the right way, didn't spend money when we didn't have it and got relegated. The two teams that survived above us both broke the rules. Where is the fairness in doing the right thing if they don't get sanctioned?
