Only conceded one goal in two wins against two big teams. If you didn't actually watch any of the games then it looks good on paper I suppose.

I've been banging on that we needed a spine all season. Good to see at least someone listened.

River Trent is rather high down by the WFCG right now

I can't remember when, but some considerable time ago I remember it being up near the path/road behind the trentend. I was concerned about the safety of the crowds as they went down and past the trentend. No sign that anyone in authority was. Different times.

    Nobody died.

Paul Taylor has an article in the Athletic today about the financials. Nothing particularly new from yesterday, but this bit about the Brennan deal, which appears to be key to our compliance, somewhat encouraged me that we'll be OK:

    Quoted message:

Forest could have sold him earlier in the window when they had offers of around £30million on the table from Brentford. But selling him at that point would have meant accepting a markedly lower price. It made sense to wait until later in the window when they ended up selling him for £47.5m.

The club, throughout the process, were in conversation with the Premier League, briefing them on the situation and pointing out that it made financial sense. Forest were in constant contact with the league throughout the summer.

One imagines our barrister chap will make the argument that we told you what we were doing and why and you were good with it then, so it's a but rum to change your mind when it's too late for us to do anything about it.

I obviously hope you're correct .... But filing deadlines for accounts can't just be ignored when it suits us. They'll argue his income should be counted in the next periods accounts rather than the one we are reporting for. Won't they? Can't just shift income/expenditure between reporting periods to suit your circumstances.

It's all bollocks unless and until we know what the facts and specific regulations are which none of us do so we may as well all worry about it if it happens.

Except that FFP has no legal standing, and the Premier League can account for whatever they like. So if my optimistic reading of that is correct, we've had the conversation with the Premier League to say "look, we've got 30M on the table now and if we accept it we'll be fully FFP compliant, but we think the player is worth a lot more and we'd like to hold out to the end of the window to get the extra value - if we do that will you accept that we were willing to be compliant within the time period, but agree that it's reasonable to allow us to maximise our income?"

It's important to note as well that yesterday's story wasn't "the Premier League thinks that Forest have breached FFP", but the Telegraph and Maguire saying "we've done the maths and we think that Forest could be close".

Interestingly, this analysis by Maguire seems to suggest that even with the Johnson money in the "correct" accounting period we are still just about ok.

As is having a transfer window that ends a month into the season. If everything ran to 31st July, it would all make sense.

Look, we've got a fancy lawyer. If we want to argue that 1st September falls before 30th June, we damn well will.

And the other good thing (well, "good") is that assuming we sneak through here it doesn't mean we're in the shit for the next season, because we'll lose a year of Championship limits and income, and gain a year of Premier League limits and income. So we'll have extra headroom again next year (assuming we're in the Premier League next year, obviously).

That doesn't include last season, which is the one that would cause the problem.

Goal of the month for December.

I know there is a desire to make men and women's football the same, but there's no way the women's goals included are going to feature above either of the Wood ones in it or MGW. Wouldn't it be more positive to have a men's and women's vote?

(The Wood goal not included (first one) would be ahead of the women's ones if included).
