Someone said something the other day about Mendes being back on the scene with Marinakis, so I guess that would make sense.

Why is Nuno so highly regarded?

I guess cos he did a good job working with Mendes players at Wolves.

Took over Wolves when they’d just finished 15th in the championship, took them up as champions, then finished 7th, 7th and then 13th,

That's euphemistically quite good. They also played a decent style, didn't they? Not especially Wolvesy.

Steven Gerrard is second in the odds...

Failed abysmally at Spurs. I thought the problem with Cooper was he couldn’t motivate better players. So the potential answer to that problem is a manager who has proven he can’t do that very thing. Great thinking Forest

I’m not advocating for Nuno (although if Gerrard is second choice…) but our players are much closer to Wolves’ than Spurs’.

I think it is nonsense. Mendes is working with Marinakis over buying a portuguese club (Rio something). Nuno just got fired in Saudi I believe for being rubbish and that the general consensus is that they will use him to prop up the club they are buying.

Nuno and Gerrard aren't coming to the club.

Not sure who is though.... ooooh Cooper in!!!!

    Chicago: Ear to the pulse.

Rio Ave - Nuno's first management job, and he was very successful there.

Who said that was the problem with Cooper? I thought that the problem was that he's got a load of new players, some of whom won't settle quickly, some of whom will never be good enough, and all of whom will disrupt what was previously established. That and that changing the way that you play is one of the hardest things to do while continuing to get results. Most of us will be old enough to remember Malcolm Allison turning manshitty from champions elect, to also rans, with the addition of one quality player.

I accept that this is cheating, and pretending that there's nothing wrong with Cooper. Of course he makes mistakes. They all do. As I suspect that some of you are about to be reminded. But that's no longer a surprise. You seem to need reminding that the current conditions make the job bloody hard... and that should be blindingly obvious to anyone who's wasted too much of their adult life watching football.

    .... but here we are.

Then he ran out of gas, before lasting 5 minutes at Spurs, and then went to Saudi. The report about his sacking here says he exchanged insults with Benzema and lost 2-0 to Air Force Club of Iraq in the Asian Champions League. Big Ron, come on down.

Ran out of steam at Wolves after four years. How’s Cooper doing after just over two years here?

Exceptionally. Going through his second run of sub-optimal results, which he has a history of recovering from, as every team would in similar circumstances. Above where we could be with a coach less well equipped at dealing with a wide array of inexperienced players constantly being churned.

Russ I think though I've not bothered to look back for actual postings.

Gerrard for me all the way. Villa keep getting mentioned as what happens when you change manager so makes perfect sense.

    Be fucking hilarious..
