...and here we are.
Still waiting for a credible suggestion of a manager with better experience, at this level, of dealing with the unique set of circumstances that Cooper is handling, and has handled successfully. Like Cooper has already demonstrated a capacity for.

We're in a very similar position, league and squad wise, to where Villa were when they sacked Gerrard and brought in Unai Emery. So, clearly we need to go and find someone who has had a short but decent career in Europe with a failed stint in the Premier League somewhere in the middle.

We are going to have to agree to differ on the squad front, I'm afraid. It's bonkers that you think ours is as good as Villas was when Emry took over.
Thought experiment: Imagine Cooper is our Emery, what comes next is our Gerrard. Where does that get us?

They had some good players but they were also regularly starting Ashley Young, John McGinn and Tyrone Mings, they weren't exactly Man City. My point though was more that it was (and is) absolutely fucking massive, much like ours.
Also, we're not completely following the Villa blueprint, we're refining it. We're skipping the Gerrard stage and going straight to the Emery.

They had established 'ship players. A back five of Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, and Digne is not too shabby (Internationals: Argentina, Poland, France, England, and includes the best keeper in the world - allegedly). Luiz, McGinn, Buendia, Dendonker, Ramsey, Bailey, Watkins (a current England international no less), Diaby.
If you think our squad is anything like theirs in quality or experience you are completely tapped in the heed.

There is no way on God's green Earth that we are anywhere near as attractive a proposition as Villa were. We're not picking a new manager from the same pool of candidates as them, then or now.

It's ridiculous to think that Villa were somehow in a different stratosphere to us. They were 16th when Emery took over, they had some very good players (as we do) and some very ordinary players (as we do). The Premier League is the most wealthy and attractive league in the world, and there are only 20 jobs in it. We are a well financed club with a great history and the potential to be as big as we want to be, much like Villa.
As someone else said earlier, you made pretty much these exact same arguments about sacking Hughton when you said he was doing the best job possible with the players at his disposal. You were wrong then, and you might very well be wrong now.
