I think he's just had enough. We churn senior positions fairly regularly.

Maybe this is a reflex decision and he's off to Rio, or he's hungry like the wolf for a new challenge. Anyway, he's left our notorious wild boys in the ordinary world so maybe there is something I should know.

Felipe's real name is: Augusto de Almeida Monteiro.

He sounds like a character from The Princess Bride. What a Man!

    Chicago: Smitten.

They are going to need them in there for the months when we don't score.

    That's the same song.

I don't want to make a Big Thing about it though. Doesn't have to be Serious.

Worrall contract extension to 2026 confirmed by the club.

According to transfermarkt, that leaves the following with contracts that expire at the end of the season:

Hennessey, Arter, Kouyate, Aurier, Boly, Felipe, Toffolo, Aina (with an option), Horvath, Mckenna plus loans Santos, Origi, Montiel, Tavares.

Don't think there's anyone with a permanent contract there we are rushing to tie down long term. They are mostly "thank you, goodbye" with a few "let's see how this season goes and maybe have a chat in the new year".

Tavares has some kind of automatic option too reportedly.

If Felipe can keep fit and carry on as is, Aurier and maybe Boly too. Depends how younger defenders we have brought in do too.

Are we sure Arter doesn't have some sort of 'further 3 year extension upon club successfully completing 2 consecutive Pemier League seasons irrespective of of squad membership or appearances' or somesuch clause? Are we really? Are we?

Shelvey is clearly going to be the new Arter.

I think we all know he's got a job for life.

At my first "proper" job someone gave me the advice that, if you were ever working somewhere where it looked like redundancies we in the offing, make sure you always walk around carrying a box, so it looks like you've got things to do. Maybe he does that?

Incidentally, that was also the employer where everyone got called into an office on a Friday afternoon to be told that anyone not in that offfice were currently being told that they no longer worked for the company. I was on a client's site (and not being made redundant), so had a number of interesting calls that weekend.

I wonder if Maranakis was at the same party as Southgate was when Macquire was taking photos. And Arter was hiding behind an adjacent tree with a similar Telephoto lens.

Rumours Arter has been offered having his contract paid up, but turned it down. Also rumours he is doing his coaching badges and helping the U18s...
