From today’s Athletic. I’m surprised there are only 50….

I think he's wrong about "we're serious about promotion". It wasn't in league 1, it was in the summer of 2004 after the Kinnear inspired revival that kept us up the previous season. To be fair, we did exit the championship that season...

Latest Percy bulletin from Wilford Lane

    www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/02/22/inside-nuno-espirito-santo-revolution-at-nottingham-forest/

(I could read without a subscription but I'm sure there are ways round if not.)

I presume that one of these is a type in the article:

"Nuno places complete trust in his staff, and they are an extremely tight-knit group. Two key figures are assistants Rui Pedro Silva and Julio Figueroa. Silva has worked with Nuno for more than 11 years and often challenges him on decisions, which Nuno appreciates as he likes being surrounded by ‘yes men’."

That reads more like a club press release, than a piece of journalism.

It’s what we’ve come to expect from Percy. I’m surprised there’s no mention of Marinakis junior’s positive influence on results.

There are rumours that he is on payroll. Allegedly.

Percy writes articles like that about lots of clubs including Wolves, Leicester and West Brom.

Yes it’s obviously given to him by the club, but how’s it different to Daniel Taylor’s negative articles that are given to him by disgruntled employees in the club? (Although Tim Cartledge recently sat down with him which is a shift).

I think it's perfectly fine to take information from various sources, then verify or challenge that information from other sources, and write what you objectively believe to be the truth. That's journalism.

To take information from one source, not verify it, and write what you suspect (or should) is not the objective truth, isn't journalism. It's a press officer.

The Torygraph would fire him if true and they found out, surely? I’m sure he gets treated nicely on his tours and obviously gets good access but that would suffice.

Which is fine but this is a very tame article that just gives a bit of insight to Nuno, I’m not massively sure it’s worth unleashing Roger Cook to make sure he had been up until 4am analysing previous games.

That's definitely correct. I'd have at least 2 Shadys on it.

Does it? How do we know? Because the club said so?

Boris Johnson happily wrote for years for the torygraph about politics and was on the payroll of the tory party, what's the difference? Every third article you read in a mainstream newspaper is the plant of a PR. Very few media publications are bastions of impartiality, and very few people think they are. That's not how the media or journalism works.

I'm pretty sure Boris Johnson has never been on the payroll of the tory party. Why would he? (Also when he writes for a paper as an MP, minister or mayor, it's a disclosed interest.)

On the chance that anyone wants a Brighton away ticket, let me know. They are going on sale to my membership level at 10am. First time league away tickets have done that since we got promoted I think.

Muvva's Day innit. If it wasn't for the threat of divorce, I'd be there.
