Textor admitted this in an interview on TalkSport a few days ago. He said as early as Wembley, he was thinking 'shit' (his words) because he knew the potential ramifications.
I like Palace as a club - they remind me a lot of Forest in a good sense - but their ownership has shit the bed here. It's now convenient for them to point us out to their fanbase as the bad guys who've ruined their European dream. Having a friendly national media is handy too, of course.
I suppose the issue for Palace is that this wasn't on the cards in March, whereas we were in a CL spot at that time. Their situation panned out in the last two weeks of the season.
Of course the obvious solution is just to ban multi club ownership. Clearly it is viewed as a problem, the expectation is that you disband them in some way if there is any chance of a future conflict, so just ban them outright and solve all these problems, along with many others, in one go.
Obviously a few of those inbreds follow the team due to location but Harborough is a bit of a London commuter swing dancing type town so there is a good mix of fans from other clubs providing adequate dilution.
Or maybe multi-ownership is allowed, but any game involving shared ownership occurs then both teams get 0 points, unless knockout when both teams are eliminated.
To avoid any appearance of impropriety.
More likely it will go the other way and like F1 allow team orders to dictate who wins the game between the two owned teams if it arises. We have moved away from it being a level playing field sporting contest already so why fight it.
Put the ear phones in and snuck out for a walk on my own along the Cornish coastline, peace and quiet but bloody hot. But it was bliss.
And forest related, there is a photo on twatter of Taiwo at the game. It’s been posted by player Dan Forbes who is a big Forest fan and wind up merchant but looks genuine enough. Don’t have a clue why he’d be there.
