I see. He's been banned all season I think since last year's comments.

You could argue it takes the pressure of the game with a sideshow distraction.

It’s not going to have any effect on the players.

It's probably because I also view it through a comms lens. It's completely unnecessary in the sense of drawing attention on the club.

I have no strong views either way about Neville. Carragher is clearly a cunt of the highest order.

If I was a major partner and funder of the league, and one of the members banned one of my employees for doing their job, I'd raise merry fucking hell. Including demanding a pound of flesh from someone for preventing my legitimate paid for access.

    Followed by Anthony Taylor.

I doubt they view it that way. Manna from heaven for the SSN clicks, innit.

If that factors into my thinking, I would definitely stoke the fire then.

Neville's responded. This will lead the media agenda now well into tomorrow. Ah well, Forest would have known this was coming.

"Symptomatic of things that have happened in the last 12 months at the club" LOLOLOL. Yeah we're good now Gary, sorry you don't find it so fun when you get the treatment your boss gave the BBC for fucking years. Off you fuck now.

By banning him, we've massively elevated Neville's importance (in his own head, if nothing else). I'd have been happier with 'Come, don't come. You're not important - we really don't give a shit'.

    But each to his own.

Maybe Neville and Bonnie Blue can hold a banned by Forest watchalong thing on Sunday.

Sounds like complete fuckwittery to me. Up there with ‘the ref’s a Luton fan’ tweet from last season.

It’s within the clubs right as per Premier League rules. The match is still being televised so doesn’t impact any revenue streams for the league.

Should Marinakas act as he does, No.

But should sky have a stronger mandate with their employees, probably.

The Premier League would love to be the NFL, if a NFL partners media rights holders commentary team came out with the guff that Neville and Carragher do, either the NFL or NBA would nip it in the bud immediately, or Neville would be moved on. The league commissioners have that much control on protecting their product.

When you say "guff", do you mean honest opinions based on their knowledge of the game, rather than the branded sanitised corporate fluffing that club owners would undoubtedly prefer?

Let's not pretend that its the people's game any more when corporates and states can do what they want with it, and we are just wagging along in fear of their shit sue, gobbling down their alternate facts.

The most annoying thing is that I actually really like Gary Neville as a man, he's never been afraid to express strong political views with which I've almost completely agreed and he's always done so in a way that cuts through bullshit and calls out bigoted scum for what they are. It's a shame that he's decided to just start spouting clickbait views, presumably at the behest of his Sky paymasters.
