From an Olympiacos supporter account on Nazi Twatter...
*For about a year now, there's been discussions about the Marinakis Football Empire acquiring a Brazilian club or academy.
Statements from the
@SaoPauloFC
president Julio Casares have confirmed that Olympiacos/Nottingham Forest/Rio Ave owner Evangelos Marinakis is establishing a partnership with the club's academy as a bridge to identify and supply talent into Europe.
Sao Paulo retains a majority stake in its infrastructure, but it appears the Marinakis network will purchase a minority share.
This agreement is huge for both Sao Paulo and the Marinakis group. Sao Paulo can attract more players with direct links to Portugal, Greece, and the Premier League. Exciting developments that could greatly impact Olympiacos!*
It must really annoy Oly fans that the Murillos will come here and they'll get the Scarpas.
They'll get the odd bone shaped David Carno, which let's be honest, is good enough to win their league with anyway.
Elanga: Good.
Forest Women won the WNL Cup, whatever that is.
Fair play Russ, you're hunting out football all over the shop this weekend.
Wood gone off with what they think is a hip injury. Hopefully just a knock.
Oh crap
I missed the why. Bugger.
Although he's sat on the bench rather than rushing off for treatment, so I'd be inclined to think it's precautionary.
I read he tried to run it off but was hobbling around. The bloke (from Radio NZ) thought it looked like a bang to the hip. So fingers crossed a bruise.
Maybe time for a Taiwo redemption story for a game or two.
Taiwo is so far off it, and never fit himself.
This is why we needed a striker in Jan, and frustrating he’s got the injury whilst not even with us.
Yeah, these matches have shown that refs out here are inclined to let rather a lot more go without the whistle, and the bigger name players are a bit of a target.
Wood had to play, but I kind of wish he hadn't.
He's definitely hobbling a bit. Do not like.
Well they obviously tried but how high should they have gone for, say, Wissa? Two years ago we needed a striker in January, signed Wood and he got injured straight away but we muddled through.
Arsenal needed a striker in January and they clearly have a lot more money than us.
There’s a strong possibility that Woody wouldn’t have started in the Cup game anyway, because of the travel - likewise Murillo; Brazil’s game vs Argentina isn’t until Wednesday, so the absolute earliest Murillo will get home is late on Thursday.
Provided Woody is OK for the United game, it’s no huge problem.
And as you say, it’s not like the club didn’t try to get a forward in January (& last Summer, for that matter). Would we rather they hurled money at it (to get a player who would have been very unlikely to be first choice at the time) and fall foul of PSR again? Any future PSR transgressions ain’t going to be 4 points…
