I don't think so. I don't wish him any ill, I just want to have a reliable centre forward.

The bit I don't get is how absence for a personal issue makes him unreliable. If an employee takes a day's leave to attend a parent's funeral, you don't label them 'unreliable' (unless they've previously taken two such day's leave...), you express sympathy and welcome them back later. It makes no sense to add this absence to the absences due to injury (which I agree are a legitimate concern).

Agreed. The club have gone to lengths to explain his absence is not injury related. He gets a pass on this for me. But. If he isn't getting his pre season work done at the same time, and starts the season unfit or it leads to an early injury, then I'll be pissed.

I’m not sure why getting drunk would help there Jim. But any excuse I guess

To continue the corporate analogy: if you have a member of staff who is continually calling in sick, and then when they finally seem to be well again start having personal issues that prevent them from attending important work events, would you agree that there comes a point at which no matter how much sympathy you have for their bad fortune you need to start considering new ways to get their job done?

Except he's been working. He's been attending his place of work and training. He's just not up to the level of being able to man a conference exhibition.

A tiny part of being a footballer is playing matches. It's just the only bit you care about.

We did this topic about 20 years ago, when Russ PLC had very strict opinions about what coloured shirt you were allowed to wear in the office, I believe white and blue were the only options…

I think that was job interviews.

It's when Berry casually announced his penchant for rocking up to his administrative office gig in flip flops things took a turn.

Didn’t he lose his flip flops when he punched a Brazilian? Whilst trying to buy condoms iirc.

That trip when he ended up backstage with some band I forget, largely due to the attractiveness of his sister I think.

I think that was a Friends episode.

The one where they go to Cardiff.

Dunno. But in general terms I think that whole storyline peaked at the pink stetson and his boss texting from the train him extolling the joys of wearing jeans to the office for the first before trying to lure him to a conference in Cardiff so he could bum him in the mouth.

    Or something.

Some people are forgetting just how good Awoniyi has looked, after a relatively brief settling in period. 17 goals in 53 premier league appearances over two years is actually fine for a player who cost £17M. We do need another striker to compete and cover him and Wood, but I wouldn't be getting rid of him in a hurry. A genuine goalscorer and a genuine nightmare to play against, whether he's scoring goals or not.

Thank you for both remembering the band and the fact it did happen and isn't just some really odd phantom memory I made up.

Bloody Berry, going over there assaulting and robbing innocent robbers. All whilst sporting half-a-teacake in his shorts.
