I see that the same people who said that a key benefit to brexshit was the opportunity to strike trade deals outside the european market, and now moaning that it's the end of all days because the current government are seeking to have a cordial relationship with the worlds second largest market.

Well, when I looked at the Guardian link it just said 'an incident'. So I googled 'De Montfort incident' and The Sun appeared to be the only one mentioning the stabbing.
I now see that the Guardian article has been updated (at 12.03). But an excellent theory, albeit one that has me wondering if Ingo has hacked your account. -

Seems to me that the unspoken element to the Mandelson stuff is that his long-term association with Epstein was one of the reasons he was ideally suited to being US ambassador, what with it being something he has in common with the US president. The difference is that it's a problem over here but a significant proportion of the american electorate don't give a shit when it's their man.

There was a dreadful moment in a White House presser yesterday where a female reporter from CNN stood up and tried to ask Trump a question relating to the Epstein victims.
He spent around 30 seconds attacking her in front of the room (and watching cameras), accusing CNN of dishonest reporting and the reporter herself of being 'an embarrassment to her employer'. Then simply moved on.
This stuff happens in plain sight now. Zero consequences.

And one of his cronies, Jeff Bezos just completed his first act in gutting one of the few last bastions of reporting, the Washington Post yesterday, 300 journalists fired as a long term plan to wind down international coverage, local and sports from one of really only 3 national papers. NY Times and WSJ being the other two.

For someone who managed to fly relatively under the radar for a fair while, Thiel’s recent speeches really out him as everything people thought he was and worse.
