He seems to have found a minor minor distributor or something that may have shown it. Briefly. Which has allowed him to sue I think. Read the BBC article.

Whether he'll win or not? Well it'll keep getting bumped up the US courts until it gets to the high court which is stacked with his appointments won't it? Besides, his track record on this stuff isn't to win, it's to bully into a payout.

Trump is a cunt. But also the BBC (or their contracted parties) fucked up big time. Chat shit get banged.

I’m not sure why he’s a cunt for suing them though. There’s a lot of it going about and people (Joey Barton, that gobby cow off of the Apprentice) have been fucking around and finding out that you can get sued for mouthing off.

The BBC shouldn’t be impregnable because it’s publicly funded. They should be more careful with our fucking money.

I don't think you should be able to send a message to millions of people saying that someone is a nonce without any comeback.

There was a line on Today this morning that there's something in Trump's defamation action around the fact the BBC carries weather reports for Florida as evidence of the publication to an American audience. Which sounds ludicrously flimsy.

So the lovely family man and war hero who ran everyone over turns out to be a nasty cunt who was kicked out the Marines for continuous offences (after never going overseas) and bit a man’s ear off a few months after.

His barrister making the point he hasn’t offended for 30 years (more likely been caught/prosecuted) but that nasty side certainly came out that day.

Hopefully he gets a life sentence shortly, the sobbing self pitying prick.

Will serve 2/3 and time on remand counts as double. So will do about 13 years.

    A quite pathetic sentence.

    That’s quite a slow door.

But I’m pretty sure sentencing guidelines he inherited have not changed.

Maybe you would think differently if it was you or a loved one on the receiving end? He committed a criminal offence and was rightfully prosecuted. I’d prefer a nicer society where people aren’t targeted by bullies in anyway and am happy there are repercussions for those who don’t want to live like this and try and hide behind the ‘free speech’ bollocks.

Its a fine line isn't it:

On one hand accusing someone of being a nonce can be mud that sticks.

Alternatively, as someone put on here a while ago is it a good use of police resources investigating someone for being mean to Tom Daily on Twitter?

I'm probably in the latter camp, Joey Barton has had plenty of rope and hung himself, his moron followers probably aren't worth saving.

I would say that it's a message worth sending, yes. Neither fame nor free speech is cover for defamation, and if it makes some of these sad online cunts think twice then it's worth it.

Yes. Doesn't make it good law. Did anyone really, really, think that Joey Barton had insider info on the child abuse, and that he wasn't just being a vile, unpleasant twat?
Given the things people have said to and about each other on here, you think the legal principle is fine?
I would be delighted if he was sued out of awareness, except as an amusing educational story.

No one is being targeted on here, and no offences are being committed. And I’m not against distaste but targeted harassment is plain wrong.

As an isolated case I’m not sure he’d have been prosecuted. But he was targeting many others such as Lucy Ward and Eni Aluko which led to pile ons and he made life very unpleasant for them.

I’m quite cheery he was brought to account, if nothing happens then all we are doing is legitimising vile behaviour.
