I see that the autocrat elect, part of a clear project to propagate fascism and division, using lies and bigotry to split us into ineffective special interest groups, is whining about being called out in the mildest possible terms through the use of "hurty words" (objectively defendable accusations).

There is an argument for lots of things to work this way, arguably the whole of education, at least for most people. It would need a massive overhaul of our society and its values, but there is a lot to be said for it, well articulated for the most part by Ivan Illich, in his books that probably aren't available in your library now that most of the don't have an experienced librarian.

There is not a day that goes by where he doesn’t increase his cuntitude index.

Apparently he’s worried about Extreme Left Antifa and facing the same fate as Charlie Kirk. He’s definitely mistaken Clacton-on-Sea for Clarksville.

School libraries, like school lunches, have the added advantage of giving access to kids whose parents don't have the resource/time/interest to get their kids to a community library - not that I disagree in general. Community services are good.

Well Britain is hardly awash with Buffalo killing sniper rifles so unfortunately he is probably going to be safe. If he is so afraid of people out to get him why doesn't he fuck off back to germany where he has his family situated anyway, (because his kids could have EU passports) and go blow Putin because thaty's what he wants anyway. I assume we are talking about Farage and not anyone else correct? I don't have much time nowadays to post so I may/probably have missed something on the way.

The Mrs works in a school with the early years stuff. I can assure you that the community are in large parts cunts who have divested themselves of any child rearing responsibility and absolutely will not be going anywhere near a library. Too many kids don't even get breakfast, never mind reading

Seeing as it’s looking increasingly likely that Kirk was done in by an Internet poisoned type in it ‘for the lulz.’ I don’t think Antifa (not that any such organization exists, mind) are something he’s got to worry about.

Mother noodlé had the same experience doing teaching assisting. I know this verges on Gammon talking points (and Mother noodlé is a little Facebook-boomer-brained) but there is a problem with a lot of parents who’ve abdicated responsibility for their children to state institutions. How much is down to poverty and general lack of community support, and how much is down to some people just being shit parents is moot when it comes to what is best for those children and their prospects of not carrying the same issues to the next generations

Primary school libraries won’t fix that, obviously, but they are at least something that can be done.. and aren’t going to do harm. It’s a choice to use resources that way, of course, and the trade-offs matter.. but it’s no use saying stuff like ‘why do this when there is food poverty’ because a) food poverty can, and should, be dealt with in addition to literally every other thing that government can do or does do and b) nobody is actually making a choice between libraries and food.

For the record, I actually don’t know where this library idea is coming from. I can easily imagine that any of the UK parties would come up with it. I would want anyone implementing it to be clear on whether the money to pay for it is explicitly coming out of other services (noting that money is fake and it does come under the realm of something that could be done with zero impact on other areas of government spending.

Nah, thanks but I’m good. The reactionaries aren’t always wrong about the problems… they’re just always wrong about the causes and the solutions.

Never thought I’d hear about cops being racist and misogynist though. Problematic. I shall dye my hair purple, adjust my pronouns, and march on city hall as soon as I’ve finished knitting this yoghurt.
